The 2023 MG Hector was recently launched at Rs. 14.72 Lakhs! With this update, the Hector gets even more features and slight changes in the design. The Hector was originally launched in India back in 2019 and it came with a lot of features. MG’s selling point for this car was the “Internet Inside” feature which enabled voice commands and connected car tech. However, this time around, the Internet Inside badge has been replaced with something else. With all this, is the 2023 MG Hector worth buying over other options? Let’s find out!

Looks
Looks are fairly subjective, and no two people like the same design. That said, the Hector’s design is a very balanced one. It doesn’t try to look too bulky, nor does it try to look too sporty. The SUV maintains a stylish, urban, and simple design that is full of chrome, and a lot of LED lights. It looks a bit boxy, which is a good thing for a car of this size.

Features
This is where the 2023 MG Hector steals the show. It gets everything you could ask for. A panoramic sunroof, voice controls, level-2 ADAS, a massive 14-inch infotainment screen, ventilated seats, and a powered tailgate too! In terms of comfort and convenience, the Hector always stands one step ahead of the competition. The cabin of this SUV is very spacious and feels much more luxurious than some of the other options.

Engines on the 2023 MG Hector
The 2023 MG Hector gets 2 engine options, a 1.5L turbo petrol that makes 143HP, and a 2L diesel that makes 168HP. The petrol engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The diesel on the other hand gets only a 6-speed manual transmission. In terms of performance, the Hector is right up there with the Harrier/Safari and is very slightly below the XUV700. The ride on the Hector is excellent, but the ride comes with a sacrifice to the handling. It is not the best around corners and had a lot of body roll, especially when compared to the competition.

Is the 2023 MG Hector worth buying?
The 2023 MG Hector is definitely a good car. There are a lot of things that favor it like features, comfort, engine performance, and an overall premium appeal. However, some things that don’t work for the Hector are a skeptical brand image and poor handling. A major miss out for the 2023 MG Hector is the lack of a diesel automatic variant. A lot of buyers in this segment are looking for that particular configuration and the Hector simple does not have it. Considering the pricing, the Hector is neither too expensive nor too affordable, it sits right up against the competition. So if you’re someone looking for a petrol car, the Hector can definitely be an option, or if you want a diesel manual only, the Hector is an excellent option. However, with the facelifted Harrier and Safari just around the corner, you might want to wait and make a decision once you’ve considered all the options!
