Top 5 Car Launches DELAYED due to Coronavirus Pandemic

The Coronavirus Pandemic has caused havoc to the already unstable Indian automobile industry. May major car manufacturers have halted production and delayed car launched due to the ongoing lockdown. Today, we take a look at 5 such car launches, most-awaited and anticipated that got delayed due to Coronavirus

  1. Tata HBX

    The Tata HBX mini SUV is probably the most talked-about and hyped car in this list. Showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the HBX is Tata’s smallest car based on the ALFA platform (same as Altroz) and will rival the Mahindra KUV100 and Maruti Ignis in India.

    In fact, Tata themselves confirmed that the Tata HBX displayed at the Auto Expo is 96% in production state and will hit the Indian roads soon. Unfortunately, this was said too soon as launch dates have now been shifted to late 2020 or early 2021.

    The Tata HBX will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as the Altroz and will get faux scuff plates, body moulded claddings and a raised stance to boost that SUV-ish look.

  2. Tata Gravitas

    Another very anticipated Tata car in the list is the 7-seater variant of the Harrier; the Tata Gravitas (earlier known as the Buzzard). The Gravitas has the same dimensions except that its 63mm longer and 80mm wider which increases the cabin space to accommodate a third row of seats.

    The engine on the Gravitas will remain the same as the Harrier. Official launch dates for the Gravitas is not confirmed however, we can speculate late 2020 or early 2021 as the launch dates.

  3. 2020 Honda City

    Honda’s biggest reveal of the year; the 2020 Honda City is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The new City also gets a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT option.

    The official launch of the 2020 Honda City was supposed to take place in April 2020 however, this has been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic and there has been no word on the new launch date for the Honda City. Till then, stay tuned!

  4. Skoda Rapid 1.0

    The Skoda Rapid 1.0 is a BS6 compliant petrol-powered car which replaces the diesel-powered Skoda Rapid. The new Skoda utilises a 1.0-litre VW TSI engine that develops 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. For transmission, you get a  6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic torque convertor gearbox (No DSG).

    There is no official word from Skoda on the launch date of the Skoda Rapid 1.0

  5. 2020 Hyundai Tucson

    Another Auto Expo 2020 entrant that got delayed due to COVID19. The official launch of the new Tucson was supposed to take place in March but now, there is no certainty on the launch of this new Hyundai SUV.

    The new Hyundai Tucson gets Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology. The Hyundai Tucson facelift gets two engine options; a 150bhp & 192Nm petrol engine and a 182bhp & 400Nm diesel engine. The diesel variant will be offered with an 8-speed Automatic.
