BMW Motorrad has told every motorcycle enthusiast around the world to brace themselves as the much-awaited R18 is going to premiere today. It was revealed last year as a concept at the Villa d’Este last year.
The prototype featured a boxer flat-twin engine which will make the custom R18 highest capacity boxer motorcycle ever made.
According to BMW, “R 18 is set to win the hearts and souls of many fans worldwide, for whom heritage and history are important factors – even in a modern interpretation of a cruiser.”
The cruiser showed as the concept clearly stated BMW plans to keep the R18 to a bare minimum when it comes to design. The R18 will be reduced to absolute keeping the pure essentials in the bike.
At the front, the R18 gets a 21″ wheel whereas there’s an 18″ at the rear. It will be getting a fishtail shaped exhaust which adds to the custom-design feels. Anyone who is familiar with the BMW styling from the bikes around the 1950s will easily recognise Pagusa-style seat, with embossed logo and hammered area on the leather.
Other details will be revealed once the company lifts the curtains from the bike today around 2000hrs IST. Stay tuned for the updates on the upcoming bike and other bike news.
