It was us at GoMechanic to shed light on the upcoming GMC badged electrified version of the Hummer which was taunted to debut in May 2020, But due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic the launch date has now been postponed to an undefined later date
The all-new Hummer EV was supposed to be the most awaited global launch this year. According to certain media reports, the company is planning to launch the Hummer EV by the end of 2020 if everything goes back to normal. The Hummer Brand is also known as of the worlds most iconic names among off-road SUVs. Additionally, the Hummer EV will be the first electric truck from GM to roll out of their Detroit based Hamtramck facility.
This also marks the resurrection of the iconic Hummer brand. GMC has also stated that the Hummer EV will continue to retain its incredible off-road capability along with having zero emissions and reduced or no noise as seen in the trailer.

According to a statement given by a higher official on postponing the launch event, he stated “While we cannot wait to show the GMC Hummer EV to the world, we will reschedule the May 20th reveal date. In the meantime, the team’s development work continues on track and undeterred. We invite all to stay tuned for more stories on this super truck’s incredible capability leading up to its official debut.”
However, the official also went on to say that the coronavirus pandemic has already delayed the launch but we will make sure that it doesn’t affect the deliveries of the Hummer EV. GMC has also stated that the Hummer EV will go on sale by autumn 2021, in the US, closely followed by the global launch.
Not much is known about the specifications but we can expect the Hummer EV to boast an impressive output of 1,000 bhp and peak torque above 15,000 Nm! and will to able to do 100kmph from a standstill in a matter of 3 seconds.
