Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda already has plenty to offer for the Indian market as recently Skoda launched the new and updated Skoda rapid mid-size sedan and is also planning to launch the facelift models of the Octavia and Superb models soon. Now a new set of spy shots have surfaced the internet of the brand’s all-new Compact SUV the Skoda Kamiq being tested on Indian roads.
The all-new Skoda Kamiq will be going against its arch-rivals and some of the segment toppers like the 2020 Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks. However, reports also suggest that the Skoda Kamiq compact SUV will not be launched in the country and it is just being used as a platform to prepare the Skoda Vision IN which will actually launch in India.

Skoda Kamiq | Engine Specification
- The global version of Skoda Kamiq is powered by a 1.5-Litre petrol engine which can churn out a power of 131HP and a peak torque of 250 Nm.
- The Indian version will be based on MQB A0 IN platform and can be expected to have the 1.0-Litre, three-cylinder option too. Although it is hard to say, factory-fitted CNG may also be an option.
Skoda Kamiq | Interior & Exterior Features
On the outside, The Skoda Kamiq which is soon to be renamed as the Skoda Vision IN features horizontal L-shaped taillamps, dual exhaust pipe and bold bonnet line on the rear end. Looking closely we can also see a set of roof rails which gives it a more sporty and SUV-ish look. Other notable features on the outside include a signature Skoda grille and split headlamps.
On the Inside, we can expect the Skoda Kamiq to take inspiration for its Euro-spec model and feature a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit with digital instruments, a 9.2-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Skoda’s new MirrorLink AI support, a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control and leather seat upholstery.
Skoda Kamiq | Safety Features
The global version has a plethora of safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Nine airbags, Lane-assist, Isofix anchorage, Seat belt reminder and many more. It has got a 5-star rating at the Euro NCAP crash test. These features are likely to make their way to the Indian version too.
Skoda Kamiq | Price, Launch & Rivals
Skoda has not yet hinted anything about the price as we can surely expect the KAmiq to range somewhere between. Rs 11 lakh to 19 lakhs depending upon the variant one goes for. It is expected that Skoda could launch its new mid-size SUV in early 2021 but looking at the current situation nothing can be anticipated yet.
As stated earlier with its launch the Kamiq compact SUV will actively rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV300 and the Nissan Kicks.
