Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA arm has been prominent in bringing the premium cars that otherwise would have failed through the Arena channel. One such is the premium MPV, XL6. But Maruti Suzuki has the MPV king selling through its Arena channel, and we all know the name, its Ertiga. So is it okay to spend extra on the NEXA offering or should you go for the Arena one? Let’s find out!
Which of the two MPVs is powerful?
Maruti Suzuki seems to have not many options left in the engine arena after BS6 norms kicked in. That’s why cars, let it be an Arena offering or a NEXA one, share engines. These right here, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and XL6 also share the same engine. Let’s take a look at the engine specs.
Engine Specification |
|
Engine | K15B Petrol |
Capacity | 1,462 |
Power | 103ps@6,000rpm |
Torque | 138Nm@4,400rpm |
Fuel Efficiency | 19.01kmpl |
Both the cars are offered with the 5-speed Manual transmission as standard. The engine can also be paired with a 4-speed AT. So, why to spend more, right? It’s too early to arrive on a verdict.
What about looks? Which of the two MPVs looks better?
Being from NEXA, XL6 does have a premium hand over the Ertiga. Be it the front profile or the rear, the few touches of luxury here and there are clearly visible on the XL6. Let’s start at the front.
The Ertiga gets projector LED headlamps while the XL6 has the signature Quad-LED Headlamps setup. Both of the MPVs have LED DRLs but the ones on XL6 look more premium for sure. The bold front fascia does add to the premium feels of the XL6.
At the rear, you’ll see the same L-shaped 3D LED taillamps but the black insert at the boot lid does add does make the XL6 stand apart from the Ertiga. The skid plate also helps the XL6 have the bolder stance.
Getting inside is where you will witness some major differences. Although the layout of both the MPVs is the same, the XL6 gets plush all-black interiors with stone-finish garnish inserts. The best part is that the second row in the XL6 gets ‘Captain Seats’, a feature that the Ertiga misses on.
