Maruti Suzuki Jimny Coming Soon In January 2021. Assembly Begins!

A couple of months back the Indian car maker Mahindra continued the next generation of its cult, the Thar. But the starting of 2021, Maruti Suzuki finally might be dropping its most anticipated off-roader the Jimny. Maruti Suzuki recently assembled 50 CKD units of Suzuki Jimny at the Manesar Plant in Gurugram, Haryana.

For those who are not aware of Maruti Suzuki Jimny, it is the successor of the rally legend Gypsy. Like the Maruti Gypsy, Jimny too is getting a body on frame construction with an option of a 4 wheel drive drive train.

Powertrain and Transmission | Maruti Suzuki Jimny 

Like other Marutis in India, this too will get the same K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine from the Ciaz, Brezza S-Cross and more.

• The engine is a 1.5-litre petrol engine that churns 105hp of max power. Also, the torque output sits at a decent 138Nm.
• The off-roader will also get the same transmission options, that is a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Though the automatic is a bit sceptical.
• Fun Fact: the engine will be mounted longitudinally to house the 4X4 drivetrain.

Pricing and Rivals

Maruti Suzuki exclaims that by 2021 January many dealerships may have a display vehicle in their showrooms. Also, it was earlier expected that it’ll be the 5-door version that’ll come to India but now it is said that the 3 door version is what that might be first. This is done in order to put the Jimny right next to its competitor the 2020 Mahindra Thar. Though we are not sure of the prices, we expect it to undercut the only vehicle in the segment the Thar.
