  • In the FY2020, from April to November, Maruti Suzuki Dzire sold 1,28,695 units showing that the Customer preferences have changed.
  • The changing trends of Indian customers have changed as there is an upward shift in preference of Indian customers, especially in the past five years. As a result, the favourite entry-level hatchback is now dethroned by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
  • Avik  Chattopadhyay stated, “The compact sub-4 metre size with the status of a boot. That is exactly what millions of Indians want. Working up from a hatchback, adding a boot, keeps costs down especially when you plan it from the beginning and not as an after-thought. That allows the marketer a competitive sticker price, allowing easy up-gradation and also first-time adoption in the metros. Also, it is the perfect fleet vehicle, for the shared mobility players and other forms of public transport.”

  • Adding the boot acted as a good move for Maruti Suzuki Dzire but was not as fruitful for the other manufacturers. The new-gen Honda Amaze sold 40,676 units in the same April-November period, showing a decent sale. But Hyundai Xcent, once which was in the top 10 selling list, was no near the other competitors, as the total units sold were 12,239 in number.
  • But to revive the market numbers, Hyundai has revealed Aura to the Indian market and will be launching it soon.
  • Tata Tigor and Ford Aspire have shown the real impact of the automobile slowdown as both the companies were not able to even sell over 8000 units.
  • Well, that said, congrats to Maruti Suzuki Dzire for keeping those sale numbers high even in the economic distress.
