8 Autonomous Driving Features On The Upcoming Mahindra XUV700

The new XUV700 is in making and anytime soon, Mahindra will launch this most anticipated SUV in the Indian market. That said, post-launch, the company has spilt the beans over some of the car’s features. An interesting feature of the lot is that the new XUV700 will have some ADAS features. So, today let’s have a look at the features the new SUV may come with. So let’s get started.

ADAS( Advanced Driver Assistance System)

The upcoming Mahindra XUV700 has been spotted with a camera on the front windscreen multiple times, confirming the presence of an Advanced Driver Assistance System. The ADAS takes in inputs from hardware systems like cameras, sensors and radars that are present all around the car. Using these inputs the assistance system enables active safety and convenience features for the driver and the occupants

  • Adaptive cruise control

The Adaptive Cruise Control is a much-awaited feature in India, but manufacturers have considered Indian Traffic and Road Conditions in second minds. ACC comes in multiples levels, with the lowest level (level 1) being least intrusive and the highest level being the Auto-Pilot feature like we have seen in the Teslas. If the XUV 700 does come with an ACC system it will most likely be a Level 1, like the one in the MG Gloster. However, it will still be the first time a vehicle of this segment will get such advanced tech.

  • Blind-spot Assist

The Mahindra XUV700 may also have a Blind Spot Assistant as a part of the ADAS. This feature is very well known in the automotive market but this will be the first time we see it in a car in this price range. This is where the car will tell whether the blind spot proximities are clear or not.

  • Drowsy Driver Detection

This feature is a part of most of the cars in the international market but a first time offering for a vehicle that is made in India. This Drowsy Driver detection feature automatically sends a warning on the dashboard when it detects that the driver is overly tired or sleepy. A very helpful feature for people who plan on doing long trips with their XUV700.

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)

Another feature that is aided by the ADAS is Autonomous Emergency Braking. The AEB uses data from Cameras and Sensors to detect an object, stationary or moving, in close vicinity of the car. If the system notices that the driver has not yet initiated braking, it will issue a warning and automatically apply the brakes to avoid a collision or minimize damage from an unavoidable collision.

  • Lane Keep Assist

An excellent feature for comfortable highway driving, the Lane Keep Assist feature works hand in hand with adaptive cruise control and keeps the vehicle stable within the designated lanes. Some smart systems even allow the vehicle to change lanes seamlessly if the driver turns off the indicators to either side.

  • High Beam Assist LED Lights

The XUV will allegedly be getting Assisting LED lights. With this system, the vehicle will automatically turn on an extra set of lights when it crosses the speed of 80 Km/Hr at night-time.

  • Personalized Speed Warning System

In a video recently shared by Anand Mahindra, we saw that the XUV700 will feature a Personalized Speed Warning System wherein the driver will get alerts in the voice of his/her family members or loved ones if the vehicle detects that it is going over a certain speed limit. This feature will surely limit the number of overspeeding cases if enabled across the Industry.

This was a list of some of the Autonomous features the Mahindra XUV700 might get. If these turn out to be true, it will be a huge revolution for this segment and even for India, and competitors like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector will surely need to step up their game by multiple levels.
