5 Super Rare Barn Find Cars in India | From Chevrolet to Ford- Part 2

What happens when you buy a toy for a child? There is an immense pleasure that is clearly on his face. Well, for the car guys, it is when they find a rare car in a barn or a garage. And seeing that car in a pristine condition is the icing on the cake. Let us have a look at another 5 rare barn car finds in India.

  1. 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Convertible

    This car has a small history related to it. It was ordered by the Princess of Baroda. But at the dock, while unloading, the Fleetmaster was damaged and the delivery was never taken. India’s first police commissioner of Bombay bought the car. It was preserved in his garage for more than 40 years. Then, later it was restored to its original glory and the convertible was showcased at the 2019 Cartier at Jaipur, Rajasthan. This Chevy Fleetmaster has retained its original parts even after the restoration as it was preserved very well. It is important to note that while the restoration was done, the original bodypaint was not hampered with.

  2. 1934 Standard Ten

    This four-door saloon was actually gifted to the current owner by his father-in-law. One of the USPs of this car is that the Ten is a single-owner car. The British car was powered by a 1.4-litre engine that used to produce nearly 10hp of power. The car sat in the garage for over 45 years which led to the layer of dust and webs to develop. But the car had almost all its original parts intact. The owner has now restored the car and the beauty is a feast to the eyes.

  3. 1954 Dodge Convertible

    This imported left-hand-driven car was found sitting outside a house on a farm. The car was in a running condition before it was left open to the natural conditions which made it suffer a lot. The car was later restored fully and is now a properly drivable convertible. The USA-spec car was powered by a 4.0-litre petrol engine which was capable of producing 150hp of power and over 300Nm of torque. As this model was an import, it is surely possible that the car was equipped with the same engine.

  4. 1959 Plymouth Belvedere

    This car used to be the carrier for the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Later on, it was bought by someone in Jaipur. The new owner has rarely driven the car as the odometer reads around just 4,830 km. The only thing missing on this Plymouth was the rear glass. The restoration work was done and the car now looks as new as it could have been.

  5. 1939 Ford V8 91A

    The American carmaker Ford came to India back in 1995. But this rare Ford V8 91A reached our shores even before the independence. Just over 24,000kms on the odometer, this car was sitting in a garage for over 65 years. Some parts were missing but the majority of the car was intact. Talking about the V8 engine, the 3.0-litre workhorse was capable of producing 60hp of power and 127Nm of torque. The 2-door 3-seater was restored tastefully and showcased at the 2019 Cartier Concours at Jaipur.
