10 Car Features that Indians are Obsessed with | From The Sunroof to Running Indicators

After BS6 coming into power, almost all the car makers in India have either changed the generation or gave their lineup a slight overhaul. The updated line up is cherished with new features and engine options. With that said, there are some of the features, the might or might not be useful but are mouth-watering. And we Indians are obsessed with features like these. To name a few, here are 10 such features Indians badly want.

  1. Sunroof/Moonroof

This is one of the features that pop in buyers head as soon as he/she decides to buy a car. By default, Sunroof had its place reserved on top. More than its use, people usually flaunt it. With that said, it does look elegant and enhances the overall plush appeal inside the cabin. Sadly Maruti Suzuki is considered the trendsetters of the automotive world, still have not got a vehicle with a sunroof.

  2. Paddle Shifters

Believing that a CVT transmission has paddle shifters is bind blowing. CVT does not even require them in the first place. Let’s save this story for some other day. But still, Honda and Toyota walk hand in hand by offering the same. Thankfully, now Paddle shifters come with a DCT transmission which has a use for them.

  3. Powered Seats

Talking luxury, electrically powered seats are among the first thing that flashes in our head. They do offer convenience to the driver as well as the co-driver in getting the exact and comfortable driving position. That said, indeed this feature shouts richness. Wonder which car gets it? Cars under 20lcs that get power seats are Toyota Yaris, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.

  4. Digital Everything

With ever-growing development everything is entering the digital era, this includes peoples mindsets too. This has also filtered into the automotive industry with cars getting all-digital instrument clusters. Some cars have gone one up with a Colored-LCD that offers a ton of information for the driver. Though they look stunning, they rob the old school appeal and mechanical feel the old cars had.

  5. Cruise Control

One of the useful features is cruise control, but surely not in India. Still, out on the highway where they might be a boon makes humans less reflexive. This could result in fatal accidents. That said, Indian car makers advertise it proudly and we buyers want it badly.

  6. Driving Modes

One of the useful features especially for India is the driving modes. These modes differ between different car makers but the common ones are the Eco, city and sports. Where the Eco mode is good for those bumper to bumper traffic, sports can fair a good deal out on twisties. These modes alter not only the steering but also the throttle response. Lethargic for the eco mode and sharp as a knife in the sports mode.

  7. Ventilated Seats

Next comes the ventilated seats, that boast luxury in proud. Well, kudos to Hyundai they were the first to have a feature of this sort. In the hot weather like Indian’s, Ventilated seats are what we all need. Trust me, these are not a gimmick and does offer a cooling feature.

  8. LED Lights Everywhere

This is something we have seen in cars for a while. Though LEDs are peoples favourite especially the white light, it surely is useful. The difference is now, that even the turn indicators and the tail lights come with led lights. Not just that, even top-end variants for some cars offer LED lights for the cabin. Honda City is one of the cars to have these.

  9. Push Button Start

With the Keyless entry, push-button is also a part of the kit. The start button increases the feel of driving the car. It is far from saying that this misses the satisfying mechanical feel that the twist of the key provides. Still, this is something love.

  10. Running/Floating Indicators

Audi is the parent, those introduced the running turn indicators. People immediately got obsessed with it and voila, aftermarket products were folded with such products thereafter. With that said, even some carmakers introduced it in their car. Renault Capture and MG Hector are some to offer the same.
