April 2021 has been a month of surprise for India when the country got to see another wave of the pandemic and this time India was hit worse than 2020. Talking of how bad the automotive industry has been hit, the sales for April 2021 have dipped for sure but still, automakers have managed to sell a decent amount of cars. Here is the car sales report for April 2021 where we take you through the top 10 selling cars in the previous month.
-
Maruti Suzuki WagonR (18,656 Units)
Starting our list with the one that has been the top seller in the country for a long time now. The Maruti Suzuki WagonR is the favourite hatch of many Indian families and has never failed to impress anyone in any generation or avatar. For April 2021, WagonR recorded a sale of 18,656 units.
-
Maruti Suzuki Swift (18,316 Units)
In the second place is Maruti’s hot hatch, the Swift. Just like WagonR, Swift has been among the top-selling cars for a long period of time. For the month of April 2021, Swift recorded a sale of 18,316 units. Considering it is among the cheapest mod-friendly cars, Swift has been the first choice of many Indians when it comes to modification. Also, for those who like it raw, Swift never fails to impress you.
-
Maruti Suzuki Alto (17,303 Units)
Like a boss! Again in the list of the top-selling cars in the car sales report, without even a facelift is the Maruti Suzuki Alto. In April 2021, Alto ended up selling 17,303 units which is an appreciable figure for sure considering that it is the same old car with the same old face and features. When will Maruti bring a new, fresh Alto in the Indian market?
-
Maruti Suzuki Baleno (16,384 Units)
After Alto, we have Maruti’s premium hatch – Baleno. Although Toyota Glanza is also on sale parallel to this hatch, people still prefer buying the car with an MSIL badging. Why is it so? We also wonder the same every time we bring out the sales report for you. Well, going by the stats, Glanza is not beating or even matching sales with Baleno anytime soon.
-
Maruti Dzire (14,073 Units)
And finally, with the facelift, we are not seeing the ‘Taxi’ Dzire on the Indian roads. This version of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire has finally helped the car to re-build its image as an efficient family car. For the car sales in April 2021, Dzire recorded a sale of 14,073 units which is again, quite decent considering the current pandemic condition.
-
Hyundai Creta (12,463 Units)
The 2020 Hyundai Creta is definitely not a miss! We are saying this because this is the only Hyundai that you would find in the car sales report which is constant throughout and is definitely not a Maruti. Hyundai’s top-selling car for this month, Creta ended April 2020 with a sale of 12,463 Units.

Hyundai Gi10 NIOS (11,540 Units)
Hyundai’s hot hatch – the Grand i10 NIOS also gathers significant sale for the Korean automaker in India. Talking about car sales in April 2021, NIOS ended the month with a sale of 11,540 Units which is 4.72% more than what it sold in the same month last year. We guess the pandemic couldn’t affect its sales because we have seen a YoY growth here.
-
Maruti Eeco (11,469 Units)
When people are staying home and e-commerce businesses are fulfilling the need of the hour. Apart from e-commerce, you also need a real MPV to make sure the medical supplies or any other thing which is needed urgently is transported safely. With its extreme reliable nature, Eeco always stands among the top 10 most selling cars every month. This time it is at 8th place with a YoY decline of minor 0.68%. That’s not even a complete 1!
-
Hyundai Venue (11,245 Units)
While Kia is playing with logos, Hyundai is focussing on the real game! Don’t be offended Kia fanboys because stats show that Sonet is not here in the top sellers’ list while Hyundai Venue has made its way to 9th place with a sale of 11,245 units. This means a YoY change of 4.88% which is definitely a green flag for Venue. YoY growth in the pandemic is really remarkable.
-
Maruti Vitara Brezza (11,220 Units)
Last but not least, Maruti’s Brezza is at 10th place in car sales in April 2021. With a sale of 11,220 units, this car has shown a minor decline of 0.48% if we compare the sales for the same month last year. The competitors are still struggling to be on the top 10 list and we hope we will see a new name here very soon.
