With the on-going coronavirus epidemic American auto giant Ford has asked over 10,000 of it, employees, in India except for those who perform business-critical roles, to work from home, following the footsteps of Swedish carmaker Volvo.
A Ford India spokesperson said, in recent days, the company has concluded that the issue of coronavirus has taken on a different dimension.

According to a senior ford employee, “The company has concluded that the issue of coronavirus has taken on a different dimension. Ford is continuing to act in real-time to keep its “people safe and help limit the spread of the virus in communities where we live and work.”Therefore, starting Monday, March 16, we have instructed much of our India workforce (over 10,000 people) including Ford India and Global Business Services – except those in business-critical”.
Adding further the ford employee also went onto say “The action will additionally help reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus while maximising the health of our business. All necessary safety measures have been deployed at Ford locations as well as our dealerships to ensure minimum inconvenience to customers.”

amidst the coronavirus outbreak, Ford has also suspended all of its domestic as well as international travel since February in order to limit the exposure of its employees to the virus.
Additionally, guidelines to all the dealers have also been initiated which includes ensuring all cars that visit the workshops along with all the dealerships are cleaned thoroughly before next use.
Earlier India’s one of the largest carmaker Tata has also announced work from home for all of its office-based employees at there HQ and regional offices.
