India’s one of the largest car manufacturer who recently announced to produce medical equipment in order to support all medical representatives and first responders amidst the on-going Coronavirus pandemic has now indigenously developed a prototype of a bag valve mask or in a lay man’s language a go-to ventilator which could be priced a mere Rs 7,500 according to company officials.
The ET team at Mahindra’s Kandivali (Mumbai) and Igatpuri (Nashik) manufacturing plants developed have been able to develop the prototype within a matter of 48 hours. The ventilator prototype also called an Ambu bag has turned out to be a game-changer and could cost under 7,500 which will eventually help a large sum of people.

A senior company official said in a tweet “We are simultaneously working with an indigenous maker of ICU ventilators. These are sophisticated machines costing ₹5-10 lakh. This device is an interim lifesaver and the team estimates that it will cost below ₹7,500″.

On 22nd March, Pawan Kumar Goenka had recently offered the government and other concerned authorities to extend a helping hand in scaling up production of ventilators and other essential medical equipment and along with the patient s infected with the deadly Coronavirus. The company also hopes to have the designated prototype ready for approval within the next the 2-3 days.
The company has also teamed up with two state-owned companies and another unnamed ventilator manufacturer in order to simplify the design and to scale up the production of the designated product in India.
