With the Indian Automotive sector rapidly evolving, carmakers try their best to bring in all they can in terms of style, adorability, and even performance. And while the trend has largely helped everyday cars become smarter, better, and better-looking, sometimes it just doesn’t make sense. Such is the trend with a fake exhaust that several OEMs are now incorporating in their design, which is not just absurd, but senseless.
In a futile attempt to copy high-performance luxury cars, even budgeted hatches have now started offering “fake exhaust” as they evidently cannot offer the real deal. So here are 6 Indian cars with fake exhaust tips.
-
MG Astor
Our first offender in the list of Fake Exhaust tips comes from the house of MG. The MG Astor’s rear profile showcases a twin exhaust setup, but looks are deceiving and if you take a closer look, you’ll notice that the chrome surrounded tips are rather fake with the real pipes are kept hidden underneath the vehicle. This is mostly the case with all MG vehicles in India.

Kia Sonet
An affordable SUV from the house of Kia, the Sonnet surely sets a mark when it comes to compact SUVs that are designed quite well. While the overall fascia of the Sonnet is well balanced, the rear has been given a “fake exhaust” treatment with two openings on either side connected by a chrome strip, with none of them being the real deal.

Kia Seltos
The big brother of the Sonnet and the biggest rival of the Hyundai Creta, the Seltos too is a victim of the “fake exhaust” obsession, with two pseudo openings on either side connected by a chrome strip much like the Sonnet. Had the pseudo exhaust been avoided we are sure that the Seltos still would have managed to look as good as it already does.

Tata Safari
The all-new Tata Safari has left no stone unturned to look as modern as it gets. A beautiful rebirth of the Safari badging, the all-new Tata Safari has surely got the looks thanks to Tata’s Impact Design Philosophy. The SUV is a sizable one and commands respect with its overall stance, but despite the looks working to the SUV’s advantage Tata still decided to beef things up with its “fake exhaust” with too much chrome that could have been easily avoided.
-
Tata Harrier
Much like the Safari, the Harrier too gets twin chrome “fake-exhaust” opening on either side of its bumpers to add a bit of a sporty stance to the Harrier’s rear profile. While the move might be controversial considering the fact that both openings are fake ones, the openings themselves do add a bit of charm we must say.

MG Gloster
A testament to the fake exhaust obsession, not only did MG decide to offer pseudo exhausts on the Gloster, they even decide to do that by going extremely overboard. The result is the fact that the MG Gloster offers two sets of twin exhausts on either side with one of the two is absolutely fake!
