Great Wall Motors Haval Dargo Name Trademarked In India!

Haval Dargo Trademarked

Chinese Great Wall Motors have officially filed a trademark for the name “Haval” in India. GWN had planned on entering India back in 2020, but things didn’t work out due to the pandemic. Let’s break down this news a bit and try to understand more about the Great Wall Motors Haval Dargo SUV.

  1. What’s the reason behind the delay?

GMW had originally planned an elaborate set-up in Maharashtra, where they would locally manufacture their products in order to keep costs aligned with the Indian consumers’ interests. However, this was put on hold by the Maharashtra Govt. primarily due to the cross-border tension between the two countries. This put a hold on all the future investments and projects GWM had planned for India.

  1. What is the current status?

As of June 2021, GWM has revised their strategy for India. They will be entering the market with either completely-knocked-down (CKD) or a completely-built unit (CBU). This means that they might not be able to maintain the costs which they had earlier planned.
