Making sub-compact sedans by adding a boot at the rear has become a norm for carmakers. It began a long ago when the tax relaxations for cars under 4 meters was introduced. Hyundai has been a prominent player in the subcompact arena. And the latest one to join the fleet is Hyundai Aura. It is an extra boot with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. Or is it? Let’s find out.
Powertrain Specification | Is there any difference under the hood?
Hyundai offers the same engine and transmission options in both the cars. No difference at all!
Hyundai Aura vs Grand i10 Nios | Powertrain Specifications |
||||
Engine | 1.2 Kappa Petrol | 1.2 U2 CRDi Diesel | 1.0 Turbo GDi | 1.2 Bi-fuel (Petrol with CNG) |
Power@rpm | 83ps@6,000 | 75ps@4,000 | 100ps@6,000 | 69ps@6,000 |
Torque@rpm | 113.7Nm@4,000 | 190.2Nm@1,50-2,250 | 171.6Nm@1,500-4,000 | 95.12Nm@4,000 |

So, there is no difference at all. What makes a little difference, is that the kerb weight of Hyundai Aura is around 30kgs more than the Grand i10 Nios. Therefore, there will be a small difference in the 0-100 kmph of both cars.
Dimensions | Now this where one can see a difference!

Looks, Safety and Comfort | Hyundai Grand i10 Nios vs Aura
Starting with the looks, the front profile is almost similar. The front grille with chrome accents is divided into two parts on the Aura. At the side profile, you will find a different set of alloy wheels, both of them being a part of the Diamond Cut family. You also get to see the extra boot length, is visible (No Sh** Sherlock!).
As for the safety features, Aura offers 2 features apart from the Grand i10 Nios. The first one is ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors, that the Nios misses on, even on the top-spec variant. The second one is Projector Fog Lamps with Chrome Surround. Grand i10 Nios offers the Fog Lamps but without the chrome.
Another difference you will be getting is the R15 Gun Metal Styled wheels that come with the Grand i10 Nios. As for the Aura, there is no such option.
