Hyundai Exter: 5 Key Highlights

Hyundai is going to launch its most affordable SUV, the Exter, on July 10 in India. It shares the platform with its other entry-level siblings but has a significantly different design. It also comes with first-in-segment features. Let’s take a look at the key points before the launch:
  1. First Sub-compact CNG SUV

Compared to the competition, no other subcompact SUVs offer a factory-fitted CNG kit. Tata has introduced twin-cylinder technology, but they might launch it in November. The Hyundai Exter will be the first in the segment to be equipped with a factory-fitted CNG kit.
  2. First in Segment with a Sunroof

Another first-in-segment feature is the single-pane sunroof, which also functions with voice commands. This sunroof is more likely to be offered on the higher variants, and this might make it the most affordable SUV to come with a sunroof.
  3. First in Segment with a Dashcam

Going with the USP of segment-first features, we also have a dashcam in the cabin that records both interior and exterior views. Initially, it was introduced with the Venue N Line with three recording modes. It supports full-HD video resolution and comes with a 2.31-inch LCD display with smartphone connectivity.
  4. Bold Design

Exter features a bold and boxy design with an upright stance, along with Hyundai’s parametric design language. It features a split-headlight design with H-shaped DRLs along with heavy cladding in the side profile for the wheel arches and doors.
  5. Shared Platform

This SUV shares the same K1 platform with the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, along with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. It churns out 83hp & 114Nm torque mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. The CNG version will only be available with the manual; however, the interior of the car is also shared with its entry-level siblings.

With a few first-in-segment features and an old-school boxy design, Exter might be able to boost Hyunda’s sales even more. Which feature do you like the most?
