-
Renault Triber (⭐⭐⭐⭐)
This will come as a surprise that a car sub ₹6 lakh mark gets a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP (Interesting). This is an MPV from a French carmaker Renault it is the Triber. Though Renault Triber shares the same platform as the Kwid, it is safer. Triber managed to get an 11.62 score out of 17 for adult occupancy. In child occupancy too, Triber is decent and gets a score of 27 out of 49 and a 3-star rating. Keeping that aside, it has unstable bodyshell integrity.
-
Ford Aspire (⭐⭐⭐)
Sadly, until last month, Ford Aspire was available in the market, but after Ford exited the Indian market, this compact sedan is only available in the used car market. But despite that, it’s worth mentioning that Ford Aspire managed to score 3 stars and 10.49 out of 17 in adult occupancy, and child occupancy is where the Aspire got only 2 stars and 14.22 out of 49. Also, the bodyshell integrity was deemed as unstable.
-
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (⭐⭐⭐)
After the Triber, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was another MPV tested at the Global NCAP crash test facility. And the results were interesting than dangerous. Ertiga got a decent 3-star rating and a score of 9.25 out of 17 for adult occupancy. Even in the child occupancy, this MPV from Maruti Suzuki got 3 stars and a 25.16 out of 49, which is again decent. Unstable is what the bodyshell integrity said.
-
Renault Duster (⭐⭐⭐)
Coming back to the SUV, the next one you can buy with a 3-star rating is the Renault Duster. Duster too has been a part of the Indian automotive industry for nearly a decade, and though it’s dated it still got a decent score of 9.0 out of 17 in adult occupancy. Moving on, Duster is sadly down to 2 stars in the child seat occupancy and only got 17.75 out of 49. Even the bodyshell integrity came out t be unstable.
-
Kia Seltos (⭐⭐⭐)
One of the vehicle’s crash test ratings that came as a shock was Kia Seltos. Launched a couple of years back and instantly gaining popularity it has to do good. At least this is what we all thought. But instead, in adult occupancy Kia Seltos scored just 3 stars and scored 8.03 out of 17. Well, Seltos missed a 2-star rating by just 0.3 scores. But Seltos wasn’t lucky in the child occupancy as it got 2 stars with a score of 15.00 out of 49. Also, it’s hard to digest that a vehicle at this price gets an unstable outcome of its bodyshell integrity.
-
Maruti Suzuki Swift (⭐⭐)
The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a renowned hatchback from a Japanese automaker that was tested at the Global NCAP crash test centre. And the outcomes were more intriguing than hazardous. Swift had a boring w-star rating and a score of 7.08 out of 17 rating for adult occupancy. Even with children, this Maruti Suzuki MPV received 2 stars and a 16.23 out of 49, which is a-okay score considering Seltos’s points were under 16. The bodyshell integrity indicated that it was unstable.
-
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (⭐⭐)
Another car from the Korean auto giant to get a low crash test rating is the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. This hatchback from Hyundai got a rating of 2 stars or a score of just 7.05 out of 17 for adult occupancy. Although Hyundai Grandi 10 Nios and Seltos share the same child occupancy rating of 15.0 out of 49 or 2 stars (interesting to see considering the price difference). As expected, the bodyshell integrity was unstable.
-
Maruti Suzuki WagonR (⭐⭐) Score: 6.93
When it comes to crash test rating, believe it or one is infamous for it, yes! Maruti Suzuki. And the vehicle we are talking about here is the Maruti WagonR. Maruti Suzuki WagonR is possibly the oldest vehicle that is still on sale today. But despite the ups and downs is going strong. Well, this utility hatch scores just 2 stars on the Global NCAP adult occupancy test. Also, the score stood at a mere 6.93 out of 17. Surprise Surprise, WagonR score more than Kia Seltos in child occupancy, 16.33 out of 49. And it’s a no brainer that the bodyshell integrity was unstable.
-
Hyundai Santro (⭐⭐)
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is another Korean automaker vehicle with a poor crash test rating. This Hyundai hatchback received a 2-star rating for adult occupancy, or a 6.74 out of 17 scores. Even though both the Hyundai Grandi 10 Nios and the Santro share the same platform, they also share the same child occupancy rating of 15.0 out of 49 (2 stars) (interesting to see Seltos has the same child occupancy test rating). The bodyshell’s integrity was, as expected, shaky.
-
Renault Kwid (⭐)
Returning to a hatch from French origin, the Renault Kwid is one of the few cars to get a 1-star rating. For nearly 5 years, the Kwid has been a part of the Indian automobile industry. Despite its time here, it received an ugly 8.28 out of 17 for adult occupancy. Moving on, this hatch also received only 10.91 out of 49 stars in the child seat occupancy category. The bodyshell’s integrity was also found to be unstable.
-
Datsun Redi Go (⭐)
Another vehicle to score 1 star in crash test rating also belongs to the same segment as the Kwid, it is the Datsun Redi Go. In its test, Redi Go managed to get 8.36 out of 17 in adult occupancy. Moving further, interestingly, this hatchback got a decent 2-star rating and a score of 15.63 out of 49 in child occupancy. Mahindra Scorpio
There also is an old SUV to get zero stars, Mahindra Scorpio. Scorpio surely has a cult following but it’s hard to break that Scorpio has a zero star rating. Scorpio scored a maximum of 0.0 out of 17 in adult occupancy. Although Scorpio got an okayish score of 16.73 in child seat occupancy. Mind it, it was the base variant with no airbags that was tested here. Talking about body shell integrity, it was unstable.

Pl consider updating the list,
Nissan Magnite, Renault Triber, kiger all 4 star
Hi Aravind,
Nissan Magnite and Renault Triber have not secured a crash test rating with Global NCAP. So, we couldn’t have added them to the list. Sure, Renault Triber, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger all share the same platform, but the rest other physical aspects crucial for the crash tests are different in each car. Hence, it’s is almost impossible to predict the crash test rating. Stay Pinned! 🙂
Why are you not including Honda City 4th & 5th Gen. Both the cars got 5 star in ASEAN NCAP. Honda Amaze, WRV, Jazz also scored 4 Stat Rantings.
Hi Rajat,
The following list comprises Indian spec cars sold in India and that have been tested solely by Global NCAP and not by any other testing facility. Additionally, the cars of the respective brands (like Nissan Magnite, 5th Gen Honda City and more) have not yet unveiled the details about the cars tested either in ASEAN NCAP or any other NCAP. Meaning, the fact whether these cars are Indian spec or not is still unknown hence we couldn’t have added these to the list. Stay Pinned!
Lot of incorrect information. They left a big chunk of cars such a magnite which has 4 star rating and many more. Basically it is just advertising for punch

Couple of points, Utkarsh…
1. Surprisingly, Innova does not figure in this list. In fact, no Toyota or Honda does.
2. Hard to believe the Scorpio got a Zero. Is it so bad in terms of safety?
Hi Ketan,
While drafting this list, it was surprising that non of the India spec Totoya have been tested at the Global NCAP facility.
And yes, considering the base variant at the testing time, it didn’t even have airbags as standard. Moreover, the bodyshell integrity of the Mahindra Scorpio came out to be unstable. This is evident in the images as the area around the A-pillar crumpled unsettling the front seats of the vehicle. Nevertheless, Global NCAP tests the cars under a controlled environment and the outcome may differ in the real environment. Hope it helps.
