The American SUV brand has been working on a few launches this year. Currently, it features Wrangler & Compass. Jeep also plans to reveal an entry-level SUV for their lineup in India.

An entry-level SUV is an excellent move in the current market; Jeep is also planning to launch the Compass Trailhawk along with 2 more new SUVs this year. Let’s see what we might get:
Jeep Mini SUV Powertrain
This will be the most affordable SUV from their lineup in India. It might be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine making about 100hp with both front & rear-wheel drive options. A 5-speed manual might be on offer, along with an automatic transmission. Following the brand’s trend, an all-wheel-drive variant is also expected to be on offer.

Internally it is known as the ‘Junior’ project, and it will also get an electric platform. The IC engine variant is expected to make a global debut this year. In contrast, Jeep could reveal the electric version by 2024.
Stellantis’ Common Modular Platform
This fine little cross over might have the same design. It will be based on Stellantis’s Common Modular Platform, similar to the Citroen sold in India. It will feature Jeep’s signature elements such as the 7-slat grille, LED headlamps & DRLs, along with chunky side cladding. Jeep also confirmed that they are actively working on the junior to enter the compact SUV segment in India.

Word around also says that this small SUV might have an electrified rear axle powered by the IC engine with a conventional front. It will also have an Italian touch being a collaboration between Indian & Italian engineers.
Baby Jeep And Its Rivals
Like the Citroen, this will also be a petrol-only model. the junior might be positioned below the Renegade and hit the Indian markets next year. It will compete in the sub-4 metre segment with other cars, such as the upcoming Citroen C3 and other compact SUVs.

This is definitely a great product and bet for the Jeep aspirants. However it needs to be seen how it is priced and positioned lest it gets pitted against the bigger SUVs considering its price factor.
