Kia Motors has launched the much-awaited sub-compact SUV and Man! it has taken the market by storm already. With the announcements of prices, Kia Sonet has broken the segment with the competitive pricing. And it is the second car to come with the revolutionary tech, the iMT. The first one is its sibling, the Hyundai Venue. So, as the Kia Sonet got what it takes to beat its own sibling in the iMT game? It’s time to find out!
But first things first, What is an iMT?
In a manual transmission, as we all know, there is a gear lever and a clutch that a person has to take care of while shifting the gears. While in an Automated Manual Transmission, both the gear shifting and clutch engagement and disengagement is taken care of by the system.
In an iMT or the intelligent Manual Transmission, there is a conventional gear lever but the clutch is missing. You shift the gears the same way as in MT but without the need of pressing or releasing the clutch. Do you think it’s tough to drive?
So what do the sub-compact SUVs have under their hoods?
Both the cars offer same engine options. And when it comes to the iMT, both Sonet and Venue offer the same tech mated to the turbo engines.

Kia Sonet does seem to have upper hand when the lower variants are compared. If you are going for the lowest variant with the iMT, Sonet is a great choice.
