Well if you have been waiting for the upcoming Second-gen Mahindra Thar then your wait is about to come to an end soon. According to recent media reports, Mahindra has now confirmed that they are planning to launch the Mahindra Thar 2020 in August.
And as expected a new test mule was spotted testing and this with a new colour scheme. So let’s have a detailed overview of what the new Thar has got in store for us.

- On the mechanical front, the current-gen Thar which only comes with a diesel engine is expected to get an all-new 2.0-litre BS6 petrol unit as well capable of generating 187hp with 380Nm of peak torque.
- We can also expect the engine to come paired with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox and a 4WD drivetrain.

- The new off-roader will be bigger and bolder than the older version. The upcoming SUV will have all the modern elements in terms of features and styling. The spy images reveal that the new SUV will have the trademark seven-slat grille of the automaker, round headlamps, flared wheel arches, new LED tail lamps, a factory-fitted hard-top variant and five-spoke alloy wheels.
- On the inside, the new Mahindra Thar will have a touchscreen infotainment system which will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also gets multi-info display, remote locking and front power windows. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder, central locking and speed alert will come as standard.

- We can expect the all-new second-gen Thar to be price Rs 2 lakh over the current model which is currently priced between Rs 9.59 lakh to Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With its launch, the second-gen Thar will actively rival the likes of Force Gurkha which was recently showcased at Auto Expo 2020.
