Mahindra has finally launched its first BS6 compliant vehicle-the XUV300. The homegrown auto manufacturer has started preparing for the future and this is the first step towards it!
The XUV300 petrol variant with a 1.2l turbo engine has been made BS6 compliant. The starting price for this car model has been set to Rs.8.30 lacs and goes upto Rs.11.84 lacs for the top variant W8. The BS6 variants of the Mahindra XUV300 have been priced Rs. 20,000 more than its BS4 counterparts.

Addressing the audience, Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are delighted to launch our first BS6 vehicle. It is a milestone in our BS6 transition journey. Despite tight timelines, we, along with our suppliers, have met the challenging requirements of these tighter emission norms, much ahead of the stipulated timeline. We will progressively upgrade our entire range with cleaner emissions technology.”

As per what we know so far, the BS6 compliant, 1.2l turbo engine housed by the Mahindra XUV300 will continue to develop 110hp whereas the torque will be reduced to 190Nm. The current BS4 compliant engine produces 200Nm of torque. Apart from the XUV300, Mahindra also revealed that their Bolero Power Plus has been certified as BS6 compliant by the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT). However, Mahindra is yet to launch this model.
Mahindra XUV300 currently rivals cars like Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Though Brezza is available in diesel variant till now, Maruti plans to launch the petrol variant soon. We can expect Mahindra to launch more BS6 compliant vehicles in the coming days because BS6 compliance is the need of the hour. Every auto manufacturer is aiming to modify their lineup really soon and Mahindra has also begun its BS6 journey with the launch of Mahindra XUV300 BS6.
