Maruti Suzuki is the leading car manufacturer in India, with the most significant share in the passenger vehicle market. This year, we have witnessed good launches such as Grand Vitara & Brezza 2022. But there are more cars, such as Jimny, coming up. Let’s see how did they perform in September 2022:
Mini Cars
Maruti has reported a remarkable YoY growth of 135% in September 2022. They sold 148,380 units in the passenger vehicle market last month, which is 63,111 more than in September last year.

Starting with entry-level cars, such as Alto & S-Presso, made up 29,574 units this year. This accounts for significant growth as they only sold 14,936 units in September 2021. These entry-level offerings are usually the first cars for a lot of people.
Compact Cars
The next is the compact cars segment. This includes both compact hatchbacks & sedans; Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, WagonR, Swift & Ignis. They sit just above entry-level cars and offer better features.

The updated Baleno & Celerio have performed well to conquer more markets in their respective segments. This segment accounted for 72,176 units of overall sales which again reports extensive growth compared to the 20,891 units last year. At the same time, the people are also waiting for Swift to get updates.
Utility Vehicles
The last segment on the list is utility vehicles, including SUVs & MUVs. This segment has been the hottest in the market and has overtaken hatchbacks. We have new competitors rolling into the market, making it more fun.

Maruti sold 32,574 utility vehicles, including cars such as Brezza, S-Cross, Grand Vitara, Ertiga & XL6. Coming to their last offering in the lineup, they sold 12,697 units of their van Eeco the previous month.

Evaluating MoM growth, the company sold 1,34,166 units in August 2022, accounting for a 10.48% MoM growth. The shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on production, but they took all the possible measures and still performed and came out with growth.
