Yet another recall from India’s biggest carmaker MSIL and this time it’s the cars from the golden ages that have come under fire. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has issued a recall for over 7,000 units of the Baleno RS which has been in existence since 2015.
- According to the official recall documents the affected units were manufactured between October 27, 2016, and November 1, 2019.
- The reason behind the recall was cited to be a possible defect in the vacuum pump that assists in braking.
- The Baleno RS which was last produced in 2020 came with 4 disc brakes.
- This also happens to be the second recall for Maruti this year.
- However, with the car now discontinued, it still remains in high demand in the used car market.
- With its debut in 2015, it did a lot of damage to the cult created by the Volkswagen Polo which was introduced almost 5 yrs prior to its launch.
- Although, If you remember, Maruti had introduced the RS versions of 2 of its best sellers Baleno and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
- The Baleno sported a 1.0l booster jet engine while the Ciaz had a 1.5L petrol engine and only had cosmetic updates in the form of a company fitted spoiler and the RS badging.
- While the Baleno RS had a turbocharged engine accompanied by cosmetic updates.
