Each and every automotive is complaining about the decline in vehicle sales that includes Maruti Suzuki too. Well, with an exception! Some of the Maruti Suzuki cars have seen rising sales in its car lineup. One such car is the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Ertiga has seen tremendous changes from the day of its launch. The last change happened towards the end of November 2018. This time around the car experienced numerous changes in its features as well as an upgraded powertrain.
After the facelift, the car was nearly unstoppable in becoming the best selling MPV and the car receives its crown for the financial year 2019-2020. The company reports that sales have gone up in spite of the problems faced by the automotive industry. Maruti Suzuki sold about 90,547 units of Ertiga in the Financial Year 2019-2020, on the other hand, the only 65,263 units were sold in Financial Year 2018-2019. That is an amazing growth of nearly 39%.
Ertiga’s Rivals
Keeping the rival’s sale in check, Ertiga had a really good financial year. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s closest rival, the Toyota Innova Crysta saw about a 31% decline in its sales. Toyota sold about 53,686 units in the current financial year that is 2019-2020. On the contrary, the company sold nearly 78,000 units of Innova in the financial year 2018-2019.
Considering the newly launched XL6 which is the Ertiga with a more luxurious touch, both record sales of more than 1.2Lakh units in the last financial year. 22,117 units of XL6 alone were sold in 2019-2020.
With the entry of many other brands in the segment, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga surely faces some danger in its ground. Since the start of 2020, there are a couple of MUV launches. Namely the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire. Carnival after its launch in February reports a sale of about 3,187 units. On the contrary, the more expensive Vellfire reports a sale of about 160 units since its launch.
