Toyota Innova Crysta Company Fitted CNG- Spied Testing

Toyota Innova is one of the most popular MPVs in India. It’s used for personal as well as professional purposes alike and now Toyota aims at increasing its user base by bringing in the company fitted CNG version to the Indian market.

The Toyota Innova was recently spotted testing on the Indian roads with the CNG badge which shows that Toyota is all ready to bring in the CNG version on the Indian roads soon. As the changes were mostly in the engine, the car did not use any visible camouflage for its road testing.

Innova Crysta | Why CNG?

After unveiling and updating it’s popular MPV from BS4 to BS6 recently, the Innova will be able to cater to different needs and will not be flouting the government regulations.

With the Innova Crysta priced a slightly higher for its BS6 variant, the company aims at making the car more accessible for the customers through the CNG variant. It is also being reported that the car will be available only to cab fleet owners or individual cab owners.

It is being said that the CNG variant will be producing less power than it’s fossil fuel siblings and will be BS6 compliant. Moreover, the fuel efficiency might increase by 30 to 40 per cent and will be powered by a 2.7-litre four-cylinder bi-fuel petrol-CNG engine.

The first recipients of this CNG technology will be Glanza and the Yaris. Toyota will be using Maruti’s CNG technology in its cars.

Innova Crysta CNG | The Price

The BS6 norms made Toyota increase its prices by ₹11,000-₹43,000 for the petrol version and by ₹39,000 to ₹1,12,000 lakhs costlier for the diesel trim. The prices of the Toyota Innova Crysta CNG spec are expected to be ₹40-50,000 more than the petrol versions.

The Innova has been enjoying its monopoly in the segment although, Kia is soon going to launch its new MPV, Carnival which will be a more premium and expensive answer to the Crysta.

It is to be seen if the Innova Crysta CNG will be able to increase the sale for Toyota’s popular MPV.
