And yet again Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki has surpassed another sales milestone with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as the company has managed to sell over 5 Lacs units of its first LUV (Life utility vehicle) since its launch exactly eight years ago. The first-gen model of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was launched back in 2012 and a revamped model is then launched in 2018.
Over these years the Ertiga has able to carve a space for itself in India auto sector as a consistent performer over the years. The second-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is based on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform and features all-new aggressive and bold styling on the outside and a classy interior on the inside.

Well, If we talk about the mechanics on the Ertiga, it features a 1.5-litre petrol engine compliant to the BS6 emission norms and produces an impressive power output of 105hp and 138Nm of torque.
The engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. The petrol engine also features Maruti’s SHVS technology (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) which aids to the LUV’s fuel efficiency.
With rumours suggesting that Maruti will soon be phasing out its BS4 diesel engines before launching any new products in the market with effect from. Additionally, All the diesel variants will be dropped from all the current line-up of the company.

Maruti Suzuki India has also launched a rebadged version of the of Ertiga under its joint venture brand with Toyota, fairly known to us as ‘NEXA’ as the XL6 earlier this year, which is said to be a more premium six-seater MPV, based on the Ertiga. The Ertiga joins the competitive line-up with the Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy.
