The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara was recently unveiled, and it has grabbed quite the attention. Maruti has been working on this Creta rival for quite some time now, and they’ve given it their best. However, the Grand Virata doesn’t really match Maruti’s usual portfolio. Maruti Suzuki is known for making affordable cars that thousands of people can buy without a hiccup. With the expected pricing lying around Rs. 20 Lakhs, is it really worth it for a Maruti? Let’s find out!
-
Why is the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara expensive?
The Grand Vitara is leaps and bounds ahead of the kind of cars Maruti usually makes. It is meant to be sold as a rival to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. The equipment required to compete with these cars is not something that can be fit into a smaller budget. Moreover, if Maruti cuts down the pricing, the Vitara brand will be considered an affordable alternative to the Creta. And Maruti doesn’t want this SUV to be the affordable one, it wants it to be the premium one.

Why the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is worth the price
The pricing of the Grand Vitara can surely be justified by the extensive list of features. It gets a heads-up display, 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof with the biggest-in-segment opening area, ventilated seats, and much more. The most special thing about the Vitara is that it gets AWD. Another special add-on here is the strong hybrid variant. Yes, Maruti has collaborated with Toyota for a sophisticated strong-hybrid system on the Vitara, which will definitely make it the most fuel-efficient car in the crowd. This is the only car in the segment that gets this option, and it is also quite an expensive one! Apart from features, Maruti has also worked on improving the build quality of this SUV. They have used high-quality materials for the core of the car and are aiming for a 5-star safety rating for this one!

Should you buy the Grand Vitara over the competition?
In general, yes. However, it would be a good move to wait for the first few units to be rolled out so that any major issues can be rectified. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara is definitely a product of the class it is aiming to be, and it might even be better! The only and only thing that is not working for the Vitara here is driving pleasure and engine performance. None of the two engine options is a performer. But then it is to be considered that Maruti Suzuki’s target audience isn’t really looking for a fast, performance-oriented SUV.
