Maruti Suzuki Jimny or the globally known Suzuki Jimny is all set to make a debut in the Indian market. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. When it comes to the rivals it will be facing in India, the only name which comes to the mind is Mahindra Thar. Although the Mahindra Thar had to be discontinued due to the BNVSAP norms, the company is going to launch a new version soon. Safety Features

Although Maruti has been known to give very few safety features in its car, Suzuki globally gives a plethora of features in the Jimny. We can expect that few of them will be carried onto the Indian spec Jimny too. It will be a premium offering through the NEXA channel of Maruti. You can expect the Jimny to get dual airbags at the front, ABS with EBD, ESP, Traction Control (TC), Hill launch and descent assist and Suzuki’s advanced 4X4 tech called the AllGrip system.

On the other hand, the all-new second-gen Thar has become much safer compared to the previous-gen as the new safety list on the new Thar will include disc brakes on all four wheels, front airbags, ABS with EBD, parking camera, rear parking sensors, front seatbelt reminder, and a high-speed alert system.

On this front, the scoring is as follows.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny – 4/5

Verdict | Maruti Suzuki Jimny vs Mahindra Thar

Which off-roader is better? Let us first do the maths. Jimny has scored a total of 14 out of 20 points. On the other hand, Thar has scored 12 points out of 20. So clearly Jimny is a few points ahead of the Thar. But what about the price? Both the SUVs are expected to be launched with a price tag touching ₹10 lakhs. If you are looking for raw power, Thar is a for sure SUV you need to select but do keep in mind that it lacks features as compared to the Jimny.
