The latest news in the Indian electric vehicle market is the launch of the ‘cutest’ EV in town as we might say, the MG Comet!
The British automaker has announced the official arrival of the small yet crisp EV for the Indian market. It will be positioned as an urban runabout with a range of about 300 km on a single charge. This small car will be based on Wulling’s Air EV.
The name Comet comes from a British Airplane from 1934. Also, this is not the first time this automaker has taken the name inspiration from an aeroplane. Talking about the design elements of the car, this will be the smallest hatchback we have in India. Just 2.9m long, this will be a 3-door four-seater vehicle. Just to let you know, even Nano was bigger than this. Don’t worry, small size doesn’t mean a compromise on space. Well, the electric skateboard architecture, long wheelbase and boxy interior design will make it a very space-efficient machine.
The new upcoming EV will be feature packed as this automaker has never compromised on features and luxury. Every car that belongs to this brand is always a step ahead on the feature front. This one is also expected to have a dual-screen setup just like the Mahindra XUV700. Yes, you read that right.
Talking about the powertrain, this will be powered by a 20-25kWh battery pack that will deliver a range of almost 300km and the battery will be locally sourced from Tata AutoComp. We can expect a power output of about 50kW.
Coming to the most important aspect, the price. Well, we can expect this to be priced between 8-12 Lakhs and hence, this will rival the Tata Tiago EV and the Citroen eC3
