7 Important Features That The Maruti Suzuki Swift Misses On

A segment leader, with a glorious legacy of over 15 years, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been of the best-selling hatchbacks since 2005. As a value for money package, the Swift has undoubtedly evolved as per consumer demand with each version being better than the one it replaces. Nonetheless, here are 7 features that the Maruti Suzuki Swift misses on, that could have found a place onboard.

  1. Mild Hybrid Technology

    Maruti’s signature Mild Hybrid Technology

While there is no doubt that the Maruti Suzuki Swift’s idle stop-start feature is quite an efficient add-on, it still isn’t a match when compared to the real deal; the Maruti Suzuki Mild Hybrid Setup that comes with an additional dual battery setup. Had the Swift offered a full-on mild hybrid system like the Baleno, Ciaz, S-Cross, etc. the hatchback would have been the undisputed king of its segment if you ask us.

  2. CVT Automatic

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Swift Automatic comes with an AMT transmission dubbed as Maruti’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) onboard, and while it may be good to drive for some, it surely makes us wonder why Maruti didn’t offer a CVT onboard, which the Baleno gets. If somehow the Swift’s 1.2-liter Dual Jet engine gets mated to a CVT, things would have become truly impressive.

  3. Digital Instrument Cluster

Even though the Swift’s MID is a true classic, seeing that the competition is getting smarter day by day, a fully digital instrument cluster could have been a super cool add-on. With a fully digital MID onboard, the overall package of the Swift can be totally up-to-date and hotter than it already is.

  4. Automatic Headlamps and Rain Sensing Wipers

The time has come for Swift to become at par with modern-day competitors if you ask us. Even though the Swift brings in an ample amount of comfort and convenience features onboard, it still misses out on two crucial features that are now considered symbolic to premium comfort. Yes, we are talking about Automatic headlamps and Rain Sensing Wipers – are two of the most alluring features that the Swift should offer in the future ahead.

  5. 1.3 Litre Diesel Burner

Owing to the dreaded BS6 norms, Maruti decided to ditch its 1.3-liter diesel mill that was doing the rounds onboard the Maruti Suzuki Swift. Since then, avid diesel enthusiasts and those who were used to the peppiness of the 1.3-liter mill, feel the absence of a diesel engine, and consider it to be the biggest drawback of the Maruti Suzuki Swift at present.

As shocking as it might sound, the Maruti Suzuki Swift misses out on rear AC vents and rear power sockets; something that is now considered to be a common comfort feature for rear passengers onboard. Being a people’s favorite, the Swift not offering a feature like this is a true turn-off.

  7. Front Driver Armrest and Rear Armrest

Another super convenient comfort feature that the Swift sadly misses out on is a front-driver armrest and a rear armrest, both of which are features that add supreme comfort for all passengers both at the front as well as the back.

So these were 7 cool features that the Maruti Suzuki Swift simply misses out on, despite being one of India’s most loved hatches.

    • Safety is a comprehensive dimension that is reflected through various components. While saying that the Swift misses on safety is completely wrong, we do agree that as per Swift’s crash test ratings, things are not that good for the Swift.
