It seems like Skoda has finally decided to step its foot into the CNG market in India. Yes. it’s a bit weird but true and who better than Zac Hollis to confirm.
While reverting to our tweet Zac Hollis confirmed that that the CNG variant of the brands most sought after car, the Skoda Rapid is in the works. However, Zac also made it clear that the brand is still not sure whether to launch the Rapid CNG or not.
It was speculated that Skoda was working on a CNG variant of the Rapid when a test mule was spotted at a CNG station in Pune.
What will the Engine Specifications?
- Going by certain media reports the CNG version will come equipped with the same 1.0-litre TSI motor sold in many European markets.
- The engine is capable of generating 89 bhp which seems to be a little low but will make up with its fuel-efficiency.
- With rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna it seems like a smart move from Skoda to enter the mileage centric CNG variant.
When can we expect the Skoda Rapid CNG to Launch?
- Skoda is yet to confirm the launch of the Rapid CNG but rumours suggest that we can see the new milage centric variant to be launched by the end of 2021 alongside 3 new cars.
- These range from the recently revealed Skoda Kushaq and the facelift versions of the Skoda Octavia and the Kodiaq.
