Tata Altroz or Triumph Street Triple R: Comparo That No One Asked For!

In a series of randomness, you might be thinking that I have crossed the limits. But that’s not the case. The XZ Diesel variant of Tata Altroz costs ₹9,98,904 (On-road price). As for the Triumph Street Triple R, you will have to spend ₹9,97,605. Should you go for a track-focused bike or the golden standard hatchback? Well, let’s find out!

Powertrain Comparison | Heart of the Machines!

Tata Altroz XZ Diesel vs Triumph Street Triple R

Tata Altroz XZ Diesel Triumph Street Triple R
Engine 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq (Diesel) 765cc DOHC Petrol
Power 90ps@4,000rpm 118ps@12,000rpm
Torque 200Nm@1,250-3,000rpm 79Nm@9,350rpm
Transmission 5-speed Manual 6-speed Manual
Fuel Mileage 25kmpl 19.6kmpl

The diesel engine at the Altroz produces more torque than the petrol engine at the Street Triple R. But when it comes to power, Triumph triumphs over the Altroz. Now that is a totally absurd comparison to make as there is a huge difference between the power-to-weight ratio. I hereby declare the powertrain comparison, ABSURD! But do note that Tata Altroz offers better fuel mileage.

If you have a family of 2 or more, Triumph Street Triple R is surely not for you. If you love to travel solo and won’t be requiring space, the Triple R is a great bike with ergonomics. The Triumph Street Triple R is a bike made for tracks as well as the roads. The lightweight with impressive power figures is mesmerising. But when it comes to usability, Tata Altroz makes more sense.
