A heavily camouflaged version of the Tata HBX micro SUV was spotted testing on Indian roads by Rushlane. The Tata HBX will act as a perfect rival to the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, S-Presso and the and Mahindra KUV100 will be launched under the brand’s IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy.
As seen in the spy shots, The all-new Tata HBX production-ready test mule supports taillights with a Y-shaped brake-light design. Other notable features include a high mounted stop lamp and reflectors.
On the Inside, we can expect the future Maruti Ignis rival to feature a touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-function steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and so on. The new Micro SUV is also expected to support a high seating position all thanks to the sound system which might get integrated beneath the seats.
The HBX will be based on the brand’s ALFA platform which also underpins the likes of the Tata ALtroz premium hatchback. We can expect the HBX to get its power from a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre 3 cylinder Revotron petrol engine, possibly borrowed from Tata’s Tigor/ Tiago churning 86 hp with 113 Nm of torque while paired to a 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT.
We can expect the new to start between Rs. 4-5 lakh (ex-showroom) making it an idol choice for people who wish to buy a pocket-friendly feature loaded car. The HBX is rumoured to be positioned below the Tata Nexon compact SUV. Its bold-styling and unique set of safety and connectivity feature do act as a strong selling point.
