Tata Motors, one of India’s prominent auto manufacturers and the country’s third-largest carmaker, is all set to leave its mark again. As the anticipation heightens, the company is prepping for the Tata Nexon Facelift 2023 grand launch, scheduled for September 14, 2023. The stakes are high, with the SUV poised to reclaim the significant market chunk lost to Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Thanks to a teaser unveiled by Tata Motors, the buzz is already building, giving enthusiasts a sneak peek into the car’s impressive front profile. From design upgrades to enhanced mechanicals, let’s dive deep and understand what this promising vehicle brings.

A Fresh Naming Approach

Ditching the traditional nomenclature, the 2023 Tata Nexon Facelift opts for a naming pattern reminiscent of the Tata Punch. The variants to watch out for include Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure+, Pure+ (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S), and Fearless+ (S). For clarity, the ‘+’ signifies optional packages, while the (S) indicates trims with a single-pane sunroof.

Design: A Blend of Modernity and Tradition

Drawing inspiration from the Curvv concept, the facelift is a perfect marriage of tradition and modernity. The SUV will flaunt a brand-new split-headlamp setup, a full-width LED tail light stretching from one end to the other, and freshly designed alloy wheels. Fans of Nexon’s iconic Y-shaped design motifs, brace yourselves; it’s making an exit this time.

Interiors: Where Luxury Meets Tech

Beyond the outer charm, the Tata Nexon Facelift 2023 promises a plush interior with features. Highlights include a sprawling 10.25-inch touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic 360-degree camera, and touch-responsive climate controls. Luxury enthusiasts can rejoice with leatherette upholstery and ventilated front seats. The revamped design boasts sleeker AC vents, adding to the aesthetic appeal.

Engine and Performance

When it comes to the powerhouse, the Nexon Facelift continues its legacy. It retains the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Petrolheads have ample options with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, and an AMT for the petrol variant. However, diesel enthusiasts will have to settle for the 6-speed gearbox. Expect the familiar, robust power delivery.

Competition Heats Up

The Nexon Facelift isn’t entering an empty arena. Its prime competition remains the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the reigning compact SUV champion. But the challenges are aplenty, with the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, and Mahindra XUV300 all in the fray. As for the pocket pinch, anticipate a range of Rs 8 lakh to 15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Our Take

The Tata Nexon Facelift 2023 is more than just an SUV; it’s a statement. With Tata Motors pulling out all stops to regain its dominant position in the market, only time will tell if the Nexon Facelift becomes the new fan favourite. Until then, all eyes are on September 14th!
