Tata Nexon is the first indigenous car to get a 5-star rating at the Global NCAP crash test. Recently it was involved in a mishap with a Toyota Fortuner. The Fortuner is known to be a tough SUV due to its bold stance and massive structure. But in this mishap, Tata Nexon was strong enough to send the mighty beast rolling about four times before settling. The best thing is that both the SUVs were good enough to keep their occupants safe. The passenger escaped with minor injuries.
Although the speed of both the SUVs is unknown, it is likely to say that Nexon has emerged as a winner here.
The variant of Nexon, which can be seen involved, is the Kraz edition which has got dual-airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. Fortuner has got better safety features as compared to the Nexon. But the major reason for the rollover is the high centre of gravity due to which Fortuner got imbalanced easily and toppled.
It may be noted that the Tata Nexon involved in the accident is a pre-facelift version. The new BS6-compliant Nexon gets more features such as roll-over mitigation, brake assist, electronic traction control and hill assist. Thus it can be said that you are safer in the new Nexon. Tata has done a brilliant job while designing the sturdy structure of Nexon.
This accident has costed Fortuner’s owner as the repair cost has come out to be around ₹11 lakhs. This much money can definitely be spent on buying the Tata Nexon.
Necessity Of Safety Features!
This accident has revealed that it is really necessary to look for the safety the cars can provide for the occupants. At present Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Altroz are also 5-star rated with XUV300 scoring 4-star in child occupancy which is the best till date in India.
