Tata has added another dark edition to its lineup, making it the 5th car to get a dark version. They have launched a dark version of the Safari starting at ₹19.05 lakhs which goes up to ₹22.51 lakhs. Tata previously launched a Gold edition of the same with bright cosmetic changes.
Rajan Amba, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles commented the following on the launch:
“#DARK range has, in a very short span of time, become a mainstay of our New Forever range of passenger vehicles. This will be even truer now with the addition of Safari #DARK to the line-up, with the exciting & unique proposition that it has to offer to the customers. Furthermore, with a high sales penetration across brands, the #DARK range has undoubtedly become a popular choice for customers. The Harrier #DARK, which was launched as a limited edition product initially, did extremely well and on popular customer demand, became an integral part of the Harrier portfolio. It offered an exciting & unique package to the customers, which further extended with the introduction of the #DARK range. We are confident that this stylish #DARK Edition will prove to be yet another reason for car-buyers to upgrade to the magnificent Safari.”
Launching a dark version has always been a good idea; going with all is better in black. And these cars have a much better appeal with their dark versions. Let’s see what the dark Safari has for us:
Oberon Black Exterior
The paint job comes with the same black finish as Harrier, known as the Oberon Black. The front grille and other otherwise chrome elements are now finished as gloss black. The dark edition Safari is draped in the same shade with furthermore dark elements on the exterior.
The changes are pretty similar to the previous dark editions of Harrier, Nexon & Altroz. The only chrome left visible is the dark & Tata badging. It also stands on blacked-out 18-inch alloys.
All Black Interior
The dark theme is followed inside the cabin with a fresh Nappa granite-black interior and a ‘Blackstone matrix’ element inspiring the dashboard. Previously Safari only came with a white or beige interior, even with the unique variants such as the Gold or Adventure versions.
The top variants come loaded with features such as the almost 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system comes with wireless android & apple carplay, a wireless charger, and an air purifier. The first two rows have ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery overall and a panoramic sunroof.
Engine & Transmission
There are no mechanical changes as of now. It is powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel making 170hp & 350Nm torque mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic. The word around suggests a 160hp petrol engine that will power the Nexon EV Coupe & petrol versions of the Harrier & Safari.
It has a price range of ₹19.05-22.51 lakhs (ex-showroom); the variant-wise pricing is as follows:
