Validity of Vehicle Related Documents Extended Till September 30th

If your driver’s license was about to get expired and you were a little paranoid about heading to the RTO under the ongoing Pandemic, then it’s good news for you!

The Central Government has announced that the validity of all essential vehicle-related documents has been extended till September 30th, 2021. Although many state RTO’s have taken the process of renewing and applying for all vehicle-related documents online, this step is being considered as an additional precautionary step to avoid large gatherings of people in public places.

This extension covers all documents that expired since February 1st, 2021. All the designated authorities have been advised to consider these documents valid up until Septem 30th, 2021.

However, PUCs (Pollution Under Control) certificates have been kept out of the valid document list.

According to a statement by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari “The validity of documents related to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 has been extended till September 30, 2021. “This covers all documents whose validity has expired since 1st Feb 2020 or would expire by 30th Sept 2021. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till 30th of Sept 2021.”

In recent times many updates have been made to the existing motor vehicle rules at various levels eg. You can now apply for a driver’s license without taking a physical test at your designated RTO. Although you will have to undergo stringent training at the driving training centres in order to procure your license.
