Volkswagen AO SUV teased; Debut On 3rd Februrary

Volkswagen confirmed that they will be showcasing 4 new SUVs in the Auto Expo 2020 next week. The SUVs to be shown are Volkswagen AO, T-ROC, Tiguan AllSpace and ID Crozx EV.

Before the unveiling, Volkswagen put up a teaser video of the AO showcasing the outline of the car.

Volkswagen AO SUV | Engine Specifications

The specifications are not officially confirmed but are reported from sources.

  • It will have two petrol options, a 1.0Litre 115bhp TSI petrol engine and a 1.5Litre 130bhp TSI-Evo petrol engine.
  • Both of the engines might come with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-Speed DCT automatic gearbox.
  • Volkswagen AO SUV won’t be getting an AWD system in the base variants.

Volkswagen AO SUV | Interior/Exterior

The Indian version of the Volkswagen AO SUV which is similar to the international spec T cross SUV will be getting some changes like higher ground clearance.

  • It will have a twin-pod LED headlamp cluster.
  • The silhouette that is shown in the teaser also showcases split style chrome grille and roof rails.
  • It will have the localised MQB AO IN platform similar to the Skoda Vision IN concept.
  • The interior is a mystery at this time but it is expected to have premium features if its to make a stand in the Indian SUV market.
  • Compared to the European model the Indian model will have a 100mm longer wheelbase.

Volkswagen AO SUV | Price and Expected Rivals

Volkswagen’s new SUV will rival cars like Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta. it is expected to be decked with features to challenge the cars and an expected price range of 12-15 lakhs INR as anything higher will drive the customers away from the car.
