Volkswagen Virtus 2022 Launched | All The Highlights

Volkswagen has just launched the 2022 Virtus, in a bid to rule the mid-sized sedan segment in India.  With a package that looks quite interesting, we are here to keep you abreast with all the action. So here are all the Volkswagen Virtus launch highlights.

As was already known, the Volkswagen Virtus underpins the OEMs, India-specific MQB A0-IN platform and shares its lineage with the popular Skoda Slavia. It is the second Volkswagen vehicle under the brand’s India 2.0 project, the first one being the Taigun SUV.

In terms of engine, the mid-sized sedan is being powered by two worthy engines. The first one is a 1.0-litre TSI unit that is capable of producing 113 bhp of power with 178 Nm of torque tastefully mated to a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. The other engine is a 1.5-litre TSI unit that makes 148 BHP of power with 250 NM of peak torque mated to a 7-speed DSG.

Dimensions

The Classy Virtus

One thing that makes Virtus special is its dimensions and spacing! Volkswagen claimed that the Virtus sedan will offer the largest boot space in its segment with a massive 512 litres of boot space onboard.

It will also be the longest sedan in its segment measuring 4,561 mm in length, 1,752 mm in width, and has a height of 1,507 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,651 mm, translating to a spacious cabin.

Key Features

Virtus GT’s Interiors

As is expected by the OEM, the new Volkswagen Virtus will bring in a host of exciting features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple Car Play, connected car tech, a digital cockpit, ventilated seats, 8-speaker premium sound system, ambient lighting, cruise control and much more.

In terms of Safety, the Virtus will offer over 40 active and passive safety features including ESC, ISOFIX, TPMS, ABS with EBD, electronic differential lock, multi-collision brakes, hill control and much more.

Coming to the price point, the OEM has priced the mid-sized sedan starting at Rs. 11.21 lakhs going all the way up to Rs 17.91 lakh, ex-showroom and introductory.

The variant-wise prices of the Virtus are mentioned below:

  • Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI Comfortline MT – Rs. 11,21,900
  • Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI Highline MT – Rs. 12,97,900
  • Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI Highline AT – Rs. 14,27,900
  • Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI Topline MT – Rs. 14,41,900
  • Dynamic Line 1.0 TSI Topline AT – Rs. 15,71,900
  • Performance Line 1.5 TSI GT Plus AT – Rs. 17,91,900

The sedan is all set to lock horns with the likes of Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the Skoda Slavia. The Virtus will be offered in 6 different colours to choose from.
