With major automobile brands showcasing their new and future launches in the ongoing Auto Expo 2020. The ongoing event has also served as a platform of the announcement of the (WCOTY) World car of the year finalists.
The WCOTY currently holds an 86-member jury form all around the globe which also comprises of 6 judges from India.
While interacting with the media President – SIAM (Society of Indian Auto Manufacturers), Rajan Wadhera said “We are honoured that the World Car Awards has chosen the Delhi Expo for a significant stop in this year’s process to choose the world’s best automobiles. It is great to see how markets like India play a key role in the whole process.”

Amongst the top 10 finalists for the world car of the year 2020 are the Hyundai Sonata, Kia Telluride, Kia Soul, Range Rover Evoque, Mazda 3, Mazda CX-30, Volkswagen T-Cross, Volkswagen Golf, Mercedes-Benz CLA and the Mercedes-Benz GLB.
Along with the WCOTY, the 86-member jury will decide the 2020 World Urban from a list of 5 cars- Kia Soul EV, Mini Electric, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio and the Volkswagen T-Cross.
The event was also used to announce nominations for major award categories such as the 2020 World Performance Car which includes BMW X5, BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz EQC, Porsche Taycan and the Porsche 911.

The world performance car of 2020 have the BMW M8, Porsche 718 Spyder/Cayman GT4, Porsche 911 and the Toyota GR Supra.
Following all these above categories the WCOTY jury will also reveal the top three finalists which will be revealed at the Geneva motor show in March, while the winners of each of the designated categories will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on April 2020.
