2021 Kia Sonet Launched At ₹6.79 Lakhs! A Real Update?

All of us know Kia was about to launch the updated Seltos and Sonet in a new avatar where the new Kia logo would be the most prominent thing to notice while certain other feature changes would come along. Finally, the day has come when Kia has launched the updated Sonet in India at a starting price of ₹6.79Lakhs. What all updates would you spot in the new subcompact SUV? Let us take you through it!

With the much awaited update, Kia has doscontinued the HTK+ Turbo Petrol DCT and HTK+ Diesel AT variants as of now. Replacing them will be the HTX trim which now offers 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT. Just to let you know, the HTX was available with only manual transmission in both petrol and diesel engine options till now! Therefore, the HTX trim now becomes the base variant for those looking to go for automatic gearbox on the Kia Sonet.

2021 Kia Sonet – HTK+ Gets Upgraded

While Kia has discontinued the automatic version on the HTK+ variant, they were supposed to add something to the variant in order to make it more value for money. Keeping this in mind, they have added an electric sunroof! Wait, there’s a catch. The sunroof is available with only the iMT version as of now. The best part is this sunroof can be operated via UVO Connect with the help pf voice commands!

The HTX variant has also received some major upgrades which the buyers would rejoice for sure. Talking about the upgrades, we have the automatic transmission with paddle shifters and the sunshades! Kia has now given sunshades to 2021 Sonet which will be available in all variants starting from HTX. The HTX will also get new dual-tone Crystal Cut alloy wheels. Additionaly, HTX will also get drive modes and traction control this time with the automatic variants.

Other added features include electronic stability control (ESC), brake assist (BA), hill start assist and vehicle stability management (VSM) which will be available on the top-end GTX+ variant only.

2021 Kia Sonet Engine & Transmission

Apart from the new logo and the feature addition, there has been no change to the 2021 Kia Sonet under the hood. It still comes powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre CRDI engine under the hood. The power figures continue to be 82 bhp and 113 Nm; 118 bhp and 175 Nm; and 99 bhp and 240 Nm for all the three engines respectively.

Price

Last but not least, the most important thing Indians car about is price. For your information, the 2021 Kia Sonet Manual starts at ₹6.79Lakhs for the base variant. The iMT variant has a starting price of ₹9.79Lakhs and finally, the party piece, DCT starts from ₹10.99 Lakhs and goes to ₹12.99 Lakhs. For the diesel machine, you will have to pay ₹8.35Lakhs for the base variant and ₹13.25Lakhs for the top-end variant.
