The German owned Czech carmaker Skoda is set to launch its new C-segment sedan, Octavia in India. The company will launch the new Skoda Octavia on 10th June 2021.
Interesting thing is that Skoda had planned to launch the Octavia earlier. But because of the second wave of the ongoing global pandemic, it got delayed. Additionally, taking the new COVID-19 protocols into consideration the carmaker will be launching the new sedan at a virtual conference.
What’s new in the 2021 Skoda Octavia?
Few days in the past, we did see the new Octavia arriving at the dealerships. But that was before the second wave of the global pandemic. The images floating then gave us a glimpse of what the new Skoda beholds.
Exterior
The new 2021 Skoda Octavia is based on the company’s new MQB platform. And being a versatile platform, the new Octavia is longer and wider than before.

What’s under the hood?
Earlier as Zac Hollis exclaimed no diesel for India, indeed there is no diesel. But on the contrary, it is getting a more powerful petrol engine. Powering this sedan is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (TSI) motor that churns 190ps of max power. This engine comes mated to only a 7-speed DSG gearbox. But at the later stage, Skoda could also bring in the 1.5-litre TSI that also does duties in the Volkswagen T-ROC.

To being with, the C-segment sedan market in India is a little weak. Hence as of now, it is the Hyundai Elantra the competes with the Skoda Octavia. Skoda has to price it right in order to sell it in big numbers. That said, we can expect the prices to range from ₹22 Lakhs to ₹25 Lakhks both ex-showroom.
