1. Mahindra XUV 700
   

   

   The recently launched Mahindra XUV 700 is another vehicle that has added to Creta’s worries in terms of competition. With a super aggressive price tag of Rs. 11.99 – 14.99 Lakhs, the XUV 700 is no less than a wonder. From be it the dimensions or the boot space, the XUV 700 shines over the Creta in every sphere. In terms of the engine too the XUV 700 gets bigger 2.0-litre turbo petrol that makes 60 PS and 138 Nm more than the Creta’s 1.4-litre turbo. The 2.2-litre diesel too shines by making 70 PS and 200 Nm more than the Creta’s 1.5 litre Diesel burner. That’s not all, the Mahindra also brings in top-notch features, a few of which are simply missed by the Hyundai Creta. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the XUV 700 is absolutely disruptive for its price.

2. KIA Seltos
   

   

   Probably the biggest true rival of the Hyundai Creta and its literal cousin, the Kia Seltos even comes with an identical engine lineup to directly compete with the Creta. When it comes to the looks, the Seltos gets a well-proportioned stance that is a bit longer, wider and higher than the Creta. Feature-wise, the Seltos wins over the Creta with additions such as front parking sensors, heads up display, 360-degree parking camera, lane watch assist etc., which the Creta simply misses out on.    The self-proclaimed “King” of compact SUVs, the Skoda Kushaq is another promising competitor of the Hyundai Creta. In terms of overall dimensions, ground clearance and boot space, the Creta does seem to win over the Kushaq, but when it comes to the engine, the Kushaq shines over the Hyundai Creta without a doubt. Its 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (115 PS/178 NM) puts Creta’s bigger 1.5 litre NA petrol (115 PS/144NM) to shame by its torque.    The latest addition to the list of Creta’s competitors, this Made in India, Made for India vehicle is promising and we mean it. Based on the same MQB-A0-IN platform as the Skoda Kushaq, the Taigun holds similar advantages over the Creta as the Kushaq does. This means that Taigun’s 1.0-litre turbo gets more torque than the Creta’s 1.5 litre NA petrol, while the 1.5-litre turbo gets more power as well as torque than the Creta’s 1.4-litre turbo. But what’s adds up to the case of Taigun is its active cylinder technology, which shuts off two cylinders based on driving inputs to increase fuel efficiency. Priced between Rs. 10.49 – 17.49 Lakhs the Taigun too aims to disrupt the Creta’s reign.

5. Tata Nexon
   

   

   Often matching Creta’s sales number, the Tata Nexon is indeed a promising competitor of the Hyundai Creta that holds a dominant position through its capable engines and safety package. While looks are quite subjective, the Nexon offers a decent feature package to match Creta’s charm. But the USP of the Nexon is its 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit (120 PS/170NM) that outperforms Creta’s 1.5 litre NA petrol, with better power, torque and mileage figures. Even the 1.5-litre diesel onboard the Nexon is a turbocharged unit (110 PS/260NM) that is more fuel-efficient than Creta’s diesel burner even with Auto transmission.
