Audi India experiences a sales drop. Here’s the exact count!

2019 has not been a great year for the Indian automotive market. All the auto brands have not experienced a great time manufacturing and selling. Plants have observed no production days multiple times and sales have been disappointing as well. Audi India’s sale has also experienced a sales drop this year. Audi India sold 4594 units in 2019 and registering a decline of 29 per cent in the Indian market!

If we compare the current stats for Audi India’s sale to the stats of 2018, we can easily make out that the sale numbers were better last year. Audi sold a total of 6463 units in 2018. Better than 2019 but if we go further into the past, Audi India had experienced a sales dip in 2018 as well! We don’t know what’s wrong with the luxury carmaker!

Comparing Audi India to its competitors, we can see that BMW managed to sell over 9000 units in India in 2018! Mercedes Benz also did great in terms of sales. On the global front, Mercedes Benz became the top-selling luxury car brand for the 9th consecutive time! FYI, Mercedes Benz sold 2.34 million vehicles globally and on the other hand, Audi managed to sell only 1.84 million cars.

Considering the new launches, Audi India’s only ray of hope currently, is the new A6. Talking about 2020, Audi plans to bring the Q8 here really soon. Audi has planned multiple launches in India this year.

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India commented, “We have optimistic about the growth of the luxury car segment for many years on the back of the India growth story; which still remains intact. We believe that the luxury car market will take a leap jump sometime in the future, we only don’t know when. In terms of growth estimates for the luxury car market, we estimate it to remain flat in 2020 and we are hopeful of positive growth  starting 2021.”
