7 Obsolete Car Features That Needs A Dire Upgrade

Car features have come a long way since the beginning. From when comfortable seats & electric windows were a luxury to ventilated seats and much more. Every brand has its own set of quirky features, but many common ones have been running for a long time. Let’s look at some of the old features that need a dire upgrade:

    Ventilated seats are offered among the top variants of cars, and they are among the premium features. Although the manufacturers only offer front ventilated seats and the effectiveness can differ through brands and variants. Some of the feedback received says that the ventilation should be more effective and worth the price paid for.

    In addition to that, there has also been a request for an option of semi-ventilated seats for the affordable models. This can be essential for people living in hot weather and have long drives to cover.

  2. CarPlay/Auto | Aux Input

    We have had the AUX port as a feature for our stereo for a long time. As times progressed, the port specifications changed along with the cable & port size. We even have wireless connectivity with Android Auto & Apple Carplay.

    Modern cars still come with an AUX port, but the port’s location needs to be updated. Although We will appreciate wireless tech until it becomes standard, the port location can be made more accessible and an additional thought for the rear passengers.

  3. Speaker System

    All the cars have a basic sound system, including a four-speaker layout without any active tweeters. This could be upgraded to a six-speaker layout for cars such as compact SUVs and premium hatchbacks that come under ₹10 lakhs.

    An optional surround sound feature can also be added to the feature list to make the drives even more musical. In addition to that, better speakers could be used to enhance the sound quality and avoid distortion at high volumes.

  4. Standard Rear Headrests

    It is a simple feature that needs to be upgraded as a standard for all cars regardless of the variant or segment. This is something that manufacturers miss with their base models. Even base models of Brezza miss out on this little feature; this should be upgraded as standard.

    Rear seats with adjustable headrests are among the underappreciated features that have been there for a long time.

  5. Built-in Shades

    Next on our list, we have sunshades, also known as blinds. These come as standard on Skoda cars and are helpful to block out the light from the cabin. Many buyers add on this feature aftermarket to avoid the heat and sunlight.

    This can also be an optional add-on offered by the manufacturers and a standard feature for the top variants. Like the previous feature, it is among the little things that matter and can be upgraded.

  6. USB ports

    Cars come with a DC & USB port to allow the phones to charge. Usually, the USB & AUX ports are together, and the location is not easy to access. In addition to upgrading them to a better access point, manufacturers can also upgrade to the latest C-type and wireless charging methods.

    With the changing technology, we have wireless charging pads coming up in cars for phones. Most gadgets are now C-type, so maybe a port can be added, or the existing one can be upgraded.

    The rear parking camera has made parking in tight spots relatively easier, but there is still room to upgrade. While all manufacturers offer this feature, not all cameras have good picture quality and guidelines assist. Some have a basic camera giving a slightly hazy view of the rear, but guide-lines to assist the driver is necessary and have good picture quality.

    While talking about the rear, an electric tailgate can also be brought into the picture. For cars above 8 lakhs, the tailgate can be upgraded to an electric one. This is another upgrade that can be worked upon to improve the features. What upgrades do you want?
