So we are 3 months down in 2021 and with the start of the new financial year, April 2021 seems to turn the tables with the majority of car brands increasing their prices. April 2021 can affect the car sales due to increased price but for now, we have with us, the top 10 best-selling cars in India in March 2021. No doubt Maruti has the majority as always but this time we have 3 Hyundais on the list. Without any further mystery, let’s get into the list!
-
Maruti Swift (21,714 Units)
The Indian automaker’s top-selling SUV has already received an upgrade in the recent past and now gets a more powerful engine cruise control and many more features as standard. What else you could expect was good sales and this car has been the top-selling car in the last month too! For the top-selling cars in March 2021, Swift is the number 1!
-
Maruti Suzuki Baleno (21,217 Units)
Following Swift is the premium hatchback from the top-selling automaker in India. Baleno landed in second place this time. It has been a long time since the launch of the Glanza but it has never been able to match the sales of Baleno any time. Is there a specific reason why people still buy Baleno over Glanza because they are essentially the same?
-
Maruti Suzuki WagonR (18,757 Units)
Moving forward, Maruti’s tallboy is in third place among the top-selling cars in India for March 2021. With a sale of 18,757 units, WagonR ended the month up showing a YoY growth of a whopping 104%! With the availability of CNG and both manual and automatic transmissions, WagonR continues to sell in great numbers in India.
-
Maruti Alto (17,401 Units)
Alto has dropped a bit this time. We have seen Alto either at the top or at the second position most of the times. This time, Alto has dropped to fourth place but it’s not bad at all because the top three places are still held by the Maruti family only. Talking about March 2021, Alto sold 17,401 units which means a 60.69% growth from the same month last year.

-
Hyundai Creta (12,640 Units)
Like always, the first Hyundai on the list is the Hyundai Creta. Although many people have been continuously criticising it for its out of the box looks, Creta continues to sell really well and therefore, is at fifth place with a sale of 12,640 units which means a YoY growth of 88.49%! Creta also comes with both petrol and diesel with the availability of manual and automatic transmission where the DCT is definitely the party piece!
-
Maruti Eeco (11,547 Units)
This time too, Eeco is here on the list. We have this MPV among the top-selling cars every time but for March 2021 this MPV ended up selling 11,547 units which means a 93.55% YoY growth. Do leave your thoughts on why Eeco continues to sell in such great amounts!

-
Maruti Dzire (11,434 Units)
The first compact sedan on our list of top-selling cars in March 2020. Maruti Dzire is the segment leader in terms of sales and no other car has been able to match its sales till yet. With a sale of 11,434 units, Dzire showed a whopping 108% YoY growth. We guess comparing YoY growth will definitely give good results as we were going through the lockdown at this time in the last year and car sales were affected badly.
-
Maruti Brezza (11,274 Units)
Available in a petrol-only version Maruti Suzuki Brezza is also the segment leader in terms of sales. We have seen no other subcompact SUV on the list till now. For the top-selling cars in March 2021, Brezza is at 8th place with a sale of 11,274 units which means a YoY growth of 104.5%. Another great number you see!
-
Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS (11,020 Units)
Hyundai’s second car to be on the list. Among the top 10 most selling cars in March 2021, we have the Grand i10 NIOS at 9th place. This hatch ended up selling over 11,000 units in the last month which means a YoY growth of over 150%. So there is no wrong in saying that Maruti is not the only brand which has achieved exceptional growth in the month if we compare it to the same month last year.
-
Hyundai Venue (10,722 Units)
Last but not least. The most impressive thing about the list of top-selling cars in March 2021 is that no car has sold below 10,00- units! The venue is at the last place with a sale of 10,722 units and has reported a 75% YoY growth. For now, we have only two brands on the list of the top 10. Maruti takes the majority, while Venue remains the last one on the list. Do let us know what you think about the Kia Sonet not being able to take over the Hyundai Venue.
