4 Best EV+IC Car Combos Under 25 Lakhs!

Trends and technology are everchanging, and to keep your car garage up to date, you need to go with the market as well. Electric vehicles are gaining immense popularity, and sales are also topping the charts. But our country still lacks the charging infrastructure to support using and maintaining an EV. While you can use an EV for daily short trips to the market or office, you need an IC engine car for long drives & road trips. To get the best of both worlds, you can get one of each kind.     Nexon EV is the first car on our list and the most popular EV in India. This has been the best candidate for Tata Motors and they have been hitting sales milestones with this car. For the first garage, we are clubbing the Nexon EV with another Tata car, Altroz. Both are safe and city-friendly and equipped with plenty of features. Nexon EV is powered by a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery that churns out 129hp & 245Nm torque with a claimed range of 312 kilometres. The second car in this garage is from the premium hatchback segment. Altroz closely competes with i20 and has been taking the edge.

    Tata also introduced the DCA transmission this year, which was long awaited for. It is available in petrol, diesel & turbo petrol variants. The variant suggested in this combination is the 1.2-litre petrol XM+ trim. This engine makes 86hp & 113hp and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission with a fuel efficiency of around 19kmpl. It can be bought along with the XZ+ trim of the Nexon EV for about 25 lakhs. With the festive season around the corner, there is a chance to get some steal deals with cash or exchange discounts.

    A hatchback & SUV always make a good combination and make a suitable garage for every family. As they can carry more & cruise around in comfort while also having the ability to tackle narrow roads & city traffic with the hatchback. These cars are available with various cosmetic upgrades, comfortable cabins, and features.

    The next set of cars on our list includes the latest version of the Nexon EV and another hatchback from Maruti Suzuki. Nexon EV max is the longer-range version of the existing product. It was introduced this year with a bigger battery pack and a range of 437 kilometres. It is powered by a 40.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack that churns out 143hp & 250Nm torque. It offers features like multi-mode regenerative braking that allows the user to enhance the driving range accordingly.

    The second car in this garage is the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. It is a compact hatchback powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. It churns out 81hp & 113Nm torque with a fuel efficiency between 14-20kmpl. It is a perfect little car that is easy to drive and can tackle narrow parking spots without trouble. You can get the Nexon EV MAX XZ+ along with the Ignis Simga for just under ₹25 lakhs on road.

    The third car garage on our list combines a set of new candidates in the market. The first car is the Tiago EV. It is the most affordable EV in the market, available in four variants with two battery packs and various charging options. The MIDC claimed range for this car is  250 kilometres with the 19.2kWh battery pack, while the more extensive 24kWh battery pack offers an MIDC claimed range of 315 kilometres.

    The smaller battery pack churns out 61hp & 110Nm torque while the bigger one puts out 74hp & 114Nm torque. Tata offers a standard 3.3kW AC charger, a 7.2kW AC fast charger, and a 15A charger. Depending on the charger, the charging time ranges between 8.7 and 3.3 hours. The second car in this garage is the latest mid-sized hybrid SUV in the segment.

    The Grand Vitara: The NEXAVerse exclusive

    Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Grand Vitara in the market. There are two engines offered with this SUV. It comes with a 1.5-litre mild hybrid petrol engine making 101hp & 136.8Nm torque. At the same time, the strong hybrid system with the same displacement churns out 114hp & 122Nm torque. The former is mated to a 5-speed MT/AT, while the latter is paired to an e-CVT. The claimed fuel efficiency with the strong hybrid system is 27.9kmpl. You can get the mild hybrid Delta MT variant of the Grand Vitara along with the Tiago EV XT(24kWh) for just around ₹25 lakhs on road.

  4. TIGOR EV+ TAIGUN

    Coming to the last garage option on our list. We have a combination of an electric sedan along with a premium mid-size SUV. The EV in the set is the Tigor EV; it was the most affordable EV in the market before its sibling Tiago EV came along. It is powered by a 21.5kWh battery pack churning out 41hp & 105Nm torque and a driving range of 213 kilometres. It is available with both AC & DC chargers, with a respective charging time of 11.5 hours with the AC charger. In contrast, the DC charger replenishes the battery from 0-80% in 2 hours.

    The second car in this garage is the Volkswagen Taigun. It is one of the best offerings from the german manufacturer, with a powerful engine & a feature-loaded interior. It comes with a set of TSI engines; 1.0 & 1.5-litre. The smaller one makes 115hp & 178Nm torque while the more extensive engine churns out 150hp & 250Nm torque. This SUV is an entirely different driving experience with both comfort & power at your disposal. You can get the 1.0-litre TSI Highline and Tigor XE+ for slightly over ₹25 lakhs. However, with exchange offers and deals, it might get more affordable. So, which of these would you pick?
