Honda HR-V India – Launch Date, Price, Features Expectations

Honda has been losing market share big time, and it’s time for them to spice things up by adding a new product that will actually sell. The Honda HR-V India spec might be able to just do that for them. But that would happen only if they actually launch it. Check out when we expect the Honda HR-V Launch Date to come out and what else might be in store for us.

Honda HR-V Expected Launch Date

The Honda HR-V India spec model, was actually supposed to launch back in 2019 when Seltos was gaining steam. But the launch was cancelled eventually due to reasons unknown. However, there have been speculations that the Honda HR-V might launch late this year in 2022.

Erase This Doubt! India To Get Asia Spec Model, Not The One Recently Unveiled By Honda

Honda revealed the second generation of the 2023 HR-V crossover SUV just recently. In India, we don’t expect this model of the Honda HR-V to come. This is because Honda said that this HR-V was explicitly made for the North American market. We expect the Asian spec model to come to India (the one sold in south eastern markets).

Honda HR-V: Expectations

Broadly, we’ll be talking about 3 main categories: Interior + Features, Exterior, and powertrain options. Find expected price right below it too!

Interior + Features
Honda City Interior

The Honda HR-V India interior layout will be pretty much the same as the Philippines model. However, some elements might be added according to Indian customer preferences. An all-black cabin might also come, borrowed from the WR-V.

Talking about features, it will get many elements shared from the India spec Jazz and City. We wouldn’t be surprised if the HR-V gets an 8” touchscreen, 7” TFT Digital Instrument Cluster, 8 speaker sound system and more features borrowed from the Honda City.

Honda HR-V India will most probably get an 8” Touchscreen that might come with wireless Apple CarPlay/Andorid Auto!

It may also come with the Honda Sensing Technology, first seen on the upcoming Honda City Hybrid, that carries lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, auto high beam assist, lane departure warning, and front collision warning system.

Exterior

If Honda ever plans to land the Honda HR-V in India, it’s almost guaranteed that the Asia spec model of the Honda HR-V will land on our shores. So we can expect similar exterior styling and many bits and pieces borrowed from there.

On the outside, it will carry the typical Honda chrome wing grille on the front and a new design language that was first sported on the CR-V. Honda might give an RS trim, a sportier version of the Honda HR-V India spec.

The Honda HR-V India will be getting various black accents here and there and a new set of alloy wheels. Tyre size is expected to be 17” wheels.

Powertrain Options

Honda HR-V India spec model might get a hybrid unit!
Honda HR-V might get a hybrid unit!

We might get to see a hybrid powertrain option carried on from the Honda City. This will however be pricier. Talking about specs, we can expect the 1.8 litre engine from the now discontinued Honda Civic to be shared on the HR-V. This should be coupled with a CVT transmission.

If Honda doesn’t tune this engine for the HR-V India bound model, then the engine might feel a tad bit underpowered. It might suffer the same de-merit that the Honda Civic had.

Price

Honda HR-V Price Expectations Are: 12-19 Lakh Rupees
Honda HR-V Price Expectations Are: 12-19 Lakh Rupees

The Honda HR-V should fall into a bracket of 12-19 lakhs ex showroom. The top end models are expected to carry a hybrid powertrain which may lead to higher pricing.

The Honda HR-V looks like a promising product and it would be no surprise that it would significantly boost sales for the Japanese carmaker.
